00:00The Commission on Elections or COMELEC has began the printing of millions of ballots that will be
00:04used in the midterm polls. Though seemingly daunting, the poll body is confident that
00:09they are up to the task. Luisa Erispe has more. The Commission on Elections has finally started
00:17printing ballots at the National Printing Office for the 2025 national and local elections.
00:22According to the COMELEC, there will be 73 million ballots in total to be printed within 77 days.
00:29The COMELEC is confident it will be able to meet this target.
00:59For each day, COMELEC targets to print one million ballots. First on the list are the
01:10ballots for overseas voting and local absentee voting. During the printing, the COMELEC also
01:16showed some new features of the ballots, an improved color scheme, the names of candidates
01:22in bold typeface, and security marks to ensure each ballot will not be compromised. However,
01:29there are still questions if the names to be printed on the ballots are final, given a few
01:34disqualified and canceled COCs of local aspirants are pending before the Supreme Court. But COMELEC
01:40made it clear that as long as the High Court does not issue a temporary restraining order,
01:45their resolutions are final and executory.
01:59On the other hand, for the national positions, the COMELEC stressed the 66 aspirants for the
02:10senatorial bet are final, same with the 155 party-list organizations it approved.
