00:00Supporters and opponents of the impeached South Korean president, Yoon Sung-yol, are
00:07braving the cold and snow as a deadline to arrest him approaches.
00:13Anti-corruption investigators only have one day left to detain the president before their
00:17warrant expires.
00:20Presidential security and military guards blocked their first attempt on Friday, and
00:24the anti-corruption agency has asked the acting president to order the security service to
00:29let them through.
00:31Now police have largely kept the two protest camps separate, but where they are at their
00:36closest, small scuffles have broken out between the demonstrators and officers as protesters
00:42call to each other across a small buffer zone.
00:47I am here because I got angry that the arrest warrant failed.
00:50This is an emergency.
00:52Even with the bad weather, I was inspired to come out and protest.
00:58We are in a very difficult situation because we picked the wrong president and we are suffering.
01:03We want to go back to being a normal, democratic society.
01:07This dramatic standoff is the latest twist in a long-running saga sparked by President
01:12Yoon's decision to declare martial law a month ago, but snap protests and political opposition
01:18saw it cooled off within just a few hours.
01:21Lawyers for the president now plan to file charges against about 150 people, accusing
01:28them of obstructing official duties and causing bodily harm, and trespassing on special structures.
01:34South Korean media is reporting that the group includes senior officials from the anti-corruption
01:39agency and the National Police, the Vice Minister of National Defence, and the Chief Prosecutor,
01:44as well as investigators.
01:46For now, Mr Yoon is holed up in his residence as supporters line the road, and his presidential
01:52security service remains in place to protect him.
