00:00Ather is a household name in the Indian market when it comes to electric vehicles, they have
00:09a lot of products in the market right from the 450X to the Apex to the Rista to the 450S
00:15and now with me is another 450X, but this isn't any regular 450X, it's the updated version
00:21which comes with a whole lot of new features that aid the rider.
00:25Welcome to DriveSpark, I'm Vedant Johari and in this video, I'm going to show you guys
00:30what comes new on the updated 450X and how it benefits us on a day-to-day ride.
00:46So now first off, design, but before the design, let me talk about the colour options.
00:51Well, it's still available in all the colour options that are present in the market right now,
00:57but Ather has added two new colour options.
00:59One is this really nice blue I have with me and the other one is a brown colour.
01:04Now the brown also is really nice, however, it depends on personal preference whether
01:08you would like that or not.
01:10Now talking about the design, well, it still resembles the same.
01:15Absolutely no cosmetic changes, we still see the same front fascia that we saw in the previous
01:20gen, we see the same side profile as the previous design and even the rear stays the same.
01:27What else stays the same on this are all the specifications, your motor, your power, your
01:32torque, everything still remains the same.
01:36So what comes new, you guys might be wondering, well, it's mainly features that we get new
01:40on this.
01:41We get a few new features and I'm just going to tell you guys.
01:45First new feature we get is magic twist, now we saw the magic twist on the Apex, we saw
01:49it on the Rista, but we haven't seen it on any other Ather models.
01:53But now the 450X will also come with a magic twist.
01:56So what is magic twist for those who don't know, well, magic twist is basically how engine
02:01braking works on a regular ICE motorcycle or an ICE scooter, it works the same way here.
02:06When you're on throttle and you want to brake without having to brake hard, all you need
02:09to do is just turn the throttle the opposite direction and that's when the motor will suck
02:14back some of the power and cause you to slow down.
02:17Now it's not a drastic stop, but it will slow you down.
02:22And magic twist is mainly seen when your battery level is 90% or below, above 90%, it's not
02:29going to be that effective, but below 90%, you will feel it.
02:34So what else is new on this, the tyres that we get, well, these tyres are co-developed
02:39with Ather and MRF, so it's giving us that less rolling resistance, which in turn gives
02:45us a higher range.
02:47Now, true range of the Ather is somewhere around 105-110 kilometres on a single charge.
02:52However, now with these tyres, Ather claims that the range, the true range is increased
02:58to 130 kilometres.
03:00Now, for an actual review of that, we'll need the scooter for some time where we can actually
03:04ride it in the city, but for now, this is what Ather is claiming.
03:08Now the next new feature, we get Bluetooth connectivity.
03:12Now it's not just Bluetooth connectivity, we can see our WhatsApp notifications on our
03:17screen and not only that, you know, like when you get a call on your phone and you want
03:23to decline the call, how you have all the options such as, can I call you later?
03:26Can you call me back?
03:27I'm busy right now.
03:29We have the same options on the Ather.
03:31You don't need to pull out your phone when someone's calling.
03:33If you can't take the call, all you can do is send them the message from your screen
03:38and that's about it.
03:40It's a super convenient feature, especially when you're riding in this peak Bangalore
03:44traffic or peak car traffic, where you really don't have any place to pull over, check your
03:49phone, see who's calling, you can just access everything from your screen.
03:53And now another new feature on the 450X is traction control.
03:57We get three levels of traction control, rain, road and rally, with rain being the most intrusive
04:03where your rear wheel isn't going to spin, it's not going to allow any breaking free
04:08of the rear wheel.
04:09Then comes your road traction control, which is on your day-to-day basis, where if it detects
04:13a slight slip, it will catch it again.
04:15But that slight slip is still possible on the road traction control setting.
04:19And finally, we have the rally traction control setting and that's when, I mean, as the name
04:24suggests, when you want to go sliding around, when you want to have fun and you just want
04:27to enjoy being on the scooter, that's when you switch it into rally.
04:32So now we've tested the scooter at Arvani Grid, however, it's not just the Gokart track.
04:36They have built an obstacle course, there's a small sort of chicane that we have to follow.
04:43Not only a chicane, it's a slalom that we used with my Magic Twist to slow us down and
04:47it worked brilliantly.
04:49After the slalom, we had this balancing beam which falls down and over there we could try
04:55a hill hold assist, we could see how much the rear wheel is slipping when we're climbing
04:59up the ramp.
05:01And then after that, we had a slush section.
05:03Now in the slush section, that's when we really got to see the traction control and really
05:07see how capable these tyres are.
05:09And the traction control on rain mode was fun.
05:12Now it was slipping, it was spinning, but it wasn't throwing you off guard where you're
05:17like, I can't control the scooter or I can't do this, I can't do that, you still felt in
05:22control of the scooter.
05:24So that's what the rally traction control was.
05:27But when it comes to rain on the slushy areas, you really couldn't.
05:31The scooter almost got stuck because there wasn't enough spinning to get us out of there.
05:37But eventually we did manage to get the scooter out.
05:39So now quickly before this video comes to an end, if you guys are planning to opt for
05:43the Ather Apex, the 450 Apex, well, you get a bundle with that where you can also get
05:50the Halo helmet along with it.
05:52Now the Ather Halo helmet is honestly a product that we haven't seen.
05:56With the helmet, we get Bluetooth connectivity, we get speakers inbuilt with the helmet, we
06:00get a whole lot of things.
06:01So if you guys are interested in that, do check it out.
06:05So all in all, this was the new Ather 450X with all these new features.
06:10However, the battery pack stays the same, riding mode stays the same, design stays the
06:15same.
06:16It's just these few new features, the tyres, the magic twist, the Bluetooth connectivity,
06:21the traction control settings, it's just these few new features that we get on it.
06:25But nevertheless, it still adds a huge amount of convenience, aids us a lot in our everyday
06:31riding.
06:32I hope you guys enjoyed this video, don't forget to like, comment and subscribe.
