Vegan food in London for January

This week we’re trying something new! Veganuary in London. Here are some of the best spots.

00:00It's 2025, the start of a new year, and like many people, I'm embracing the

00:05chance for a fresh start, a clean slate. So I've decided to try something new,

00:11nothing too radical, just a simple goal, it's veganuary. I know, pretty basic, but

00:17where else to take on this challenge than in London? The capital has an

00:23abundance of incredible vegan spots and I'm eager to explore some of them this

00:27month. So this is the challenge, to go a whole month without missing meat and

00:31dairy and seek out as many spots as possible. Now to be honest I'm not that

00:38far off already, I don't usually use dairy milk in my coffee, I don't really

00:43have cheese in the fridge, so this one might be a breeze. But to kick things off

00:48I'm heading to En Route for a Caribbean Indian fusion vegan lunch, a gem in

00:53Clapham with another branch in Peckham, South East London as well. Now this place

00:59is super low-key, the atmosphere inside is great and it's been getting rave

01:03reviews. This Indian vegan restaurant with a Caribbean influence is seriously

01:08creative, it's got dishes like oyster, fried mushrooms and even typical masala

01:14dosas as well, and those dishes are exactly what we ordered. If you're

01:19looking for the perfect replacement for fried chicken then look no further than

01:24this place. The oyster mushrooms are absolutely unreal and some of them are

01:29even bigger than the size of a normal chicken drumstick. It comes with a scotch

01:34bonnet chilli sauce and a mayo, it was really delightful. I would highly recommend

01:38getting this dish if you come here and the portion size was really generous too,

01:42especially when you compare them to the size of most dishes in London. Now even

01:47though this is a fusion restaurant with dishes like fried oyster mushroom or a

01:51plantain chaat, some of these Indian dishes are really authentic. I mean the

01:56masala dosa for example is almost exactly how it would look in a

02:00restaurant in India, really generous with the potato and spinach, chutney and dal

02:04on the side, although it is much more expensive than you might pay for a meal

02:09in Mumbai. Having said that though, for London this food was incredible value. It

02:15was just £19 for the fried oyster mushrooms and the masala dosa combined.

02:21Now just because I'm doing veganuary doesn't necessarily mean I have to be

02:26healthy, so I travelled down from Enroute in Clapham to Crystal Palace in South

02:31London to check out one of London's best rated vegan cafes. With a 4.8 star on

02:37Google, Nama's cafe serves up desserts from lemon tart to pastries and yes

02:42they're all plant-based. I tried their Nutella swirl and it did not disappoint.

02:46It actually tasted really buttery and listen guys that is fine by me. Stay
