00:00This is the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 9.
00:06A lot of us expected that the IONIQ 9 would just be a version of the Kia EV9.
00:12That is not the case at all.
00:14Hyundai actually has gone the distance to create a really distinct and different interior.
00:19It's much more luxury lounge, has a lot of beautiful materials on the inside,
00:25but they've also added some things that the Kia EV9 doesn't have yet,
00:29and that includes the NACS charge style port,
00:33which means you can charge at over 17,000 Tesla stations.
00:37There is Hyundai Pay, and then it has advanced technology on the inside.
00:42Every driver will have phone as key, so you can actually operate the car just with your phone.
00:48You can pass the key to another driver if you would like to by sending them a text.
00:52It makes driving and using the Hyundai IONIQ 9 even easier.
00:56In fact, there's a little compartment in the front bumper that they call the cassette,
01:00and that's where all that technology lives.
01:03The design language in the Hyundai IONIQ 9 is really unique to Hyundai's electric vehicles.
01:08We first saw this in the IONIQ 5.
01:11They call it a pixel design, and what they do is they take those little blocks,
01:15four little blocks is actually Morse code for H as in Hyundai,
01:18and they compose various components of the car with those pixels.
01:22Inside, Hyundai took everything that they learned with the IONIQ 5
01:26and added it here, and then they advanced it.
01:29So there's a center console that slides forward and back.
01:32There are charge ports everywhere.
01:34There is an open area between the center console and the dashboard
01:38that allows space for other things,
01:40and then there's a single panel of glass where the touchscreen and driver display are housed.
01:46The Hyundai IONIQ 9 is a little deceiving on the outside.
01:50It's really spacious inside.
01:52In fact, center row seats can move forward and back quite a bit.
01:55When they're moved all the way back, it's like first class.
01:58When they're moved all the way forward, it's more like coach.
02:00The interior is also upholstered in a leatherette that Hyundai has developed.
02:05It looks like leather, but it's actually made from recycled plastics and sustainable materials.
02:12We're in the Calligraphy Edition, which is the top of the line.
02:15It's notable for the suede, ultra suede headliner,
02:18for really beautiful metal surrounds and textures here.
02:23The steering wheel is the two-tone that is used on the upholstery,
02:28which is leatherette and has all your driver controls.
02:32The gear selector is here on the steering wheel,
02:35and that's what has allowed them to open up this space here.
02:39We don't need this for a gear shifter or a transmission tunnel,
02:44of course, because it's electric.
02:45The center console, though, is really unique.
02:48You can open it from the front seat or from the rear.
02:50This is where you'll find the wireless phone charger.
02:53There's some key functions here, like drive mode selector, cup holders here,
02:58and this is a biometric starter.
03:01So if you want to unlock the car with your phone and start and drive it,
03:06once you've programmed in your fingerprint, you can do that.
03:09Hyundai Ioniq 9 will be out in 2025,
03:12and the good news is it's going to be built at their plant in West Point, Georgia,
03:16which means if there are federal tax incentives, they will apply.
03:20The design of the Hyundai Ioniq 9 is certainly very innovative and very modern.
03:25Inside, though, it is really lovely.
03:28It is the modern lounge feel that Hyundai was going for, and it is mission accomplished.
03:42Hyundai Ioniq 9.
