00:0020 years behind bars, Dominique Pellicot has accepted his fate.

00:06He will not be appealing the sentence, a decision revealed by his lawyer on Monday.

00:13He has decided not to appeal because he believes that it would be yet another ordeal with more

00:18conflict and more insinuations for his ex-wife Giselle Pellicot.

00:23He doesn't want to put her through that.

00:25He believes that this decision is more or less in line with the position he has taken

00:29throughout the hearing.

00:31Ms Pellicot never has been and never will be his opponent.

00:38Dominique Pellicot had saluted his ex-wife's courage during the nearly four-month-long

00:43trial.

00:45When other defendants accused her of complicity, he refuted those allegations.

00:50The decision not to appeal could also be a strategic one.

00:54If there were to be a second trial, Pellicot's sentence could well be increased to 30 years.

01:00This isn't the end of the case, however, as 17 defendants have chosen to appeal.

01:05Giselle Pellicot says she's ready to face them all over again.

01:10She was very aware of the fact that with 51 accused, a risk that a certain amount of them

01:17would decide to not accept the verdict was a very real risk.

01:21As a new trial is due to take place at the end of 2025, Dominique Pellicot could be called
