00:09Citing a new Supreme Court ruling that granted him broad immunity from prosecution for official

00:14actions he took as president, Trump's lawyers asked a New York state court to throw out

00:18his recent criminal conviction in Manhattan.

00:21In response, Judge Merchant delayed the sentencing to weigh the impact of the Supreme Court ruling

00:26on the case.

00:28Although we believe the defendant's argument to be without merit, we do not oppose his

00:31request for leave and his putative request to adjourn sentencing.

00:36The sentencing had previously been set for July 11th, just days before the Republican

00:40National Convention is set to begin in Milwaukee.

00:44Judge Merchant will now decide Trump's punishment, including whether to jail him in the thick

00:49of the general election campaign ahead of the November 5th election.

00:53Monday's Supreme Court ruling will likely delay another key trial in Washington, where
