00:11The information was provided Tuesday by the United Nations-backed assessment made by the

00:16Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, which said that 638,000 people face today

00:23catastrophic levels of hunger, with 48.1 million on the brink of famine.

00:30Sudan is relying from 20 months of fighting between the Sudanese army and paramilitary

00:36rapid support forces led by rival generals, which have led to a dire humanitarian crisis.

00:43According to the report, 24.6 million people, representing around half of Sudan's population,

00:50are projected to face high levels of food insecurity between December and May.

01:00The situation was not safe at all.

01:03When the army entered, there were gunshots, and a lot of chaos occurred.

01:11I immediately took my children and walked to the Jodha border with others because we

01:15needed a safe place for our children.

01:20This place two weeks ago was almost empty.

01:23We built a reception center to accommodate a few hundred of people.

01:28Currently we have over 5,000 refugees and returnees who are staying at the border, and

01:34many of them also staying at the roadside connecting Ranktown with the border.

01:39People are arriving currently from six border points, and that requires scaling up of all

01:44resources, all our capacity to be able to assist them.

01:49People are staying with the community, sharing very limited resources with everyone.
