Leeds United: Brenden Aaronson continues his road to redemption

00:00We wanted to mention Brendan Aronson because of course he's an interesting character isn't he for

00:05Leeds given the fact that and I know we've done like sort of segments on this podcast about him

00:09before as well sort of the fact that he left or well actually he came to Leeds then left

00:15and now he's come back this season having spent obviously a lot of time away on loan

00:20and now he's really starting to find his feet and I mean I think it was obvious that the ability was

00:23always there but obviously there was certainly some some ill feeling given the fact of what

00:28went on in terms of you know not really wanting to play for Leeds trying to get out essentially

00:31after the relegation yeah but now as I say he is finding his feet at the club he looks happy he's

00:36playing well um and of course getting amongst the goals as he did on Saturday as well so yeah

00:44could he be one for the long term at Leeds I mean he's not exactly that old is he oh no

00:48absolutely not yeah 100% he can be yeah I mean in terms of like obviously um the first sort of

00:54I think obvious concern people have with him was his physicality you know that like especially the

00:58championship you know like how much would he would he live up to sort of cope with the rough and

01:01tumble of the championship really and there is still that sort of worry but I mean it's definitely

01:06been better on that front he still does you know obviously you know gonna he's gonna get knocked

01:10down a lot and stuff you know I mean because of his size and stuff and that but I think he's

01:13dealing with that a little bit better than expected I think the problem this season really

01:17has been end product for him you know there's been too many times where he's been like through

01:20on goal or you know not even necessarily through on goal but like obviously like you know presented

01:25with a good chance to sort of set someone up for an easy got for a nice for a neat finish

01:29or whatever and that hasn't always been there but you say that and obviously you know he did score

01:33in the game against Oxford and that took him on to six goals for the season and that made him

01:37at that point anyway obviously other games to come Leeds is um second top scorer so far this season

01:42which is obviously you know it's not a huge figure six but to be second top scorer but that does show

01:46equally that Leeds are sharing the goals around which is obviously good as well um but yeah I mean

01:51obviously look you know when when he left on the loan relegation loan exit clause obviously lots

01:56of grumbles about that understandably when he came back there were obviously you know you have the

02:01whole sort of thing like you know once you don't you know if you leave the club and stuff I don't

02:04want you back this time the other I get all that and it was always going to be you know a rough

02:07ride but I think you know bit by bit he's sort of like you know sort of the fans have taken to

02:13heart a bit more now and stuff and he definitely is now one of the more popular players I think

02:16I still think there's question marks about the number 10 role at Leeds because obviously it looks

02:20like he well he is almost the only choice at the moment it seems like every single week like Daniel

02:25Farker plays him at the number 10 but Daniel Farker's obviously a big fan of him um but I think

02:29he'll continue to get better as well you know as you say he's not old he's 24 Leeds also paid a lot

02:34of money for him at 25 million pounds so you know he is a very very big player for Leeds there's no

02:39doubt about that and I think the one thing that everybody thought and knew is when he came back

02:43in the summer and it was obviously he was coming back for the championship campaign

02:46you're quite right as he first as you said when he introduced it everybody knows like the

02:50the lad's got talent you know so I think everybody looked at it and thought look

02:55he should be a real hit in the championship I mean you know I mean basically Leeds Simon's playing

02:59the Premier League you know 25 million or there or thereabouts so you know there were definitely

03:03you would definitely expect him to be able to do it in the championship which he is starting to do

03:07now so yeah six goals obviously he's got assists as well and stuff um but he it does feel like he's

03:12gradually having more and more of an impact on game and now it's just getting that real end

03:16products and stuff and spare a thought for him at Christmas as well because Graham Smith our

03:19chief reporter spoke to him and stuff and he sort of said that basically what was his Christmas

03:23looking like and he said basically well I'm on my own it's me myself and I um have nobody else

03:27here over Christmas and stuff so uh yeah but I mean I think fair play to him he said that's what

03:31it's like as a professional footballer and I'm sure he won't be short of invites come Christmas

03:35and stuff so a good end to the year for him hopefully um and the bottom line with him is

03:39especially at his age there should be a lot more to come but he is a very very important player for

03:43Leeds no doubt about that and hopefully um he'll get better with confidence as well and hopefully

03:48the only way is up for him yeah yeah no that's that's that's definitely it I think he's one where

03:55it was always going to take time to sort of forgive from Leeds fans point of view in terms

03:59of like what happened but the only way he could do that is by performing on the pitch and that

04:03is exactly what he is doing now.
