00:00Some parts of Camarines Sur have been reopened, particularly Andaya and Maharlika Highway.

00:06This is to reduce the traffic load that will continue to be caused by this.

00:13Three parts of Andaya Highway have been reopened for motorists,

00:17while one lane for one-way traffic on Maharlika Highway.

00:21DPWH Region 5 Director Virgilio Eduardo explained that

00:25this is the first time that both Andaya and Maharlika Highway have been damaged,

00:30which used to be an alternate route in case one of them is damaged.

00:34This is followed by continuous rainfall, which is why the roads became oversaturated

00:38or the soil became soft, causing road slips.

00:44However, DPWH assured that they will continue to work on the aforementioned roads,

00:51especially since the number of motorists in the Bicol Region is expected to increase this Christmas and New Year.

00:59This is the first time that both Andaya Highway and Maharlika Highway have been damaged.

01:08The reason for this is the continuous rainfall that we call a shear line.

01:15The soil is oversaturated, which is why the roads became soft.
