00:00The Department of Trade and Industry, or DTI, does not see the prices of Noche Buena items rising before the end of the year.

00:08This is Isaiah Binafuentes of PTV in Balitang Pambansa.

00:13The prices of Noche Buena grocery items do not rise until the end of 2024.

00:20This is the request of the Department of Trade and Industry in their inspection in Guadalupe Public Market

00:26with the Department of Agriculture.

00:29It is estimated that some of the Noche Buena items rose by less than 5%,

00:34particularly the macaroni pasta and sandwich spread due to the holiday season.

00:39But some of the items did not rise, depending on the brand of the Noche Buena items.

00:45We have controlled the prices, but not for all the products.

00:49Of course, we are talking to the manufacturers and the brand owners

00:54if they can actually just leave the prices the same as last year.

00:58DTI also encouraged the buyers to buy a bundle or wholesale for a lower price.

01:05If the Noche Buena grocery items did not rise,

01:09some buyers are getting angry because of the price increase of the main products in the market.

01:16Just like Rowena, who is a single mother and has three children.

01:20She admitted that it is difficult for her to manage her daily budget for the market.

01:39This Christmas, the belt must be fastened

01:42because most of the main products were priced up.

01:46The price of chicken was raised from P20 to P200.

01:51Now, it is P220.

01:54The price of pork has risen by P10.

01:57It is expected to rise this week and in the next few days

02:02where the price will fluctuate from P300 to P390.

02:08The important thing is that if we have vegetables,

02:12you should give us a good price so that we can return it to you.

02:15And vegetables and fish are also affected by the price.

02:18Most of the products that have risen are vegetables from Baguio.

02:22We talked to the vendors and they said that the price has increased.

02:29As we all know, we have a problem with ESF.

02:34For pork, the price has really risen.

02:37But despite the high price,

02:40the price of well-milled rice is still at P40 for some families in Metro Manila.

02:47It is lower than the usual price of P42 to P62 for a kilo of rice.

02:54The P40 rice is still part of the government's Rice for All program.
