00:00After the memorial service in honor of Minister and MP Lisa Morrish-Julian at the Education
00:05Ministry Tower on Tuesday, Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzalez initially told the
00:10media he did not want to add to his statement earlier in the day in response to a statement
00:15by the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service on Monday regarding its response to the house
00:20fire in which the minister and her two children tragically died.
00:25But when Minister Gonzalez later spoke with TV6 News via telephone, we sought further
00:30clarification about his written response to the fire service which said on Monday that
00:35upon the arrival of the firefighting crews, a request was made for additional water supply
00:41due to a lack of water in the area, a claim the minister has denied.
00:55The Public Utilities Minister then spoke about questions posed by the Prime Minister
01:12when he arrived at the scene of the fire.
01:36The Public Utilities Minister said he also enquired into the matter.
02:06The Public Utilities Minister said there is an increase in the supply of water by
02:13over 100% from the Hollis Water Treatment Plant due to an increase in rainfall in the
02:19Valencia area.
02:50The Public Utilities Minister repeated his call for the fire service to retract its claim
03:06about the issue of water supply.
