00:00You know, there was a report from Ken Rosenthal in The Athletic that says, quote,

00:04after getting burned on nine-figure contracts for sale in David Price,

00:08Red Sox owner John Henry is reluctant to award long-term deals to pitchers.

00:14So I don't know if there's anything you could say.

00:16Can you confirm that, deny that for us?

00:18Because I know a lot of fans want the team to spend this year,

00:22want the team to be aggressive, and then read something like this and

00:25are kind of disappointed.

00:27Yeah, what I can say is I feel like we have the complete support from ownership

00:32to put a team on the field that is capable of contending for

00:36the division and making a deep postseason run.

00:38It's up to me, it's up to the team that we have in baseball operations to

00:42determine the best baseball decisions.

00:45But from a resources standpoint, we feel like we are very well supported.

00:55So with all respects, we see you guys linked to a lot of players over the years.

00:59I think the last time aggressively the organization, and

01:03you just got here a year ago.

01:05But the last time the organization landed a big ticket free agent

01:08at the winter meetings might have been David Price.

01:12And so Story was signed late, JD Martinez was signed late.

01:17You guys were linked to Juan Soto and made offers to Juan Soto.

01:20You made offers to David Price.

01:22You guys were linked to Juan Soto and made offers to Juan Soto.

01:25You made offers to Max Freed.

01:27Why should we believe in the resources committed there are real and

01:32not just the Red Sox are, as you get referred to from time to time,

01:36the interest kings?

01:40Sir, I understand and I think it's a fair question.

01:45But the reality is players make decisions about where they

01:50want to play for all kinds of reasons.

01:52And once players get to free agency, they have the right,

01:57they earn the right to determine the female play for for the first time.

02:02And so we will and we have and will continue to identify

02:08players that we think improve our team will make aggressive pursuits.

02:11And my hope, my expectation is that we're gonna continue to improve the team.
