00:00David Tennant had to leave the stage during a West End performance of Macbeth last night
00:05after a toilet break drama caused chaos.
00:08It happened on Tuesday night at the Harold Pinter Theatre where a theatre-goer returning
00:12from the bathroom was told that he couldn't go back to his seat straight away. Things
00:16then escalated. Another audience member got involved and theatre staff had to step in
00:23requesting for a complete show stop.
00:26The disruptive person then left after 15 minutes and eventually the show did go on.
00:33A production spokesman confirmed to The Standard that there was an incident at the theatre
00:37last night which made it necessary for front of house team to request a show stop. They
00:43say it's standard practice in order to deal with a situation as swiftly and as effectively
00:49as possible, enabling the remainder of the production to continue with minimum impact
00:54to both audience and company.
00:57David Tennant plays the lead and he told The Guardian that he finds the play more intense
01:02and fast-paced than other Shakespeare works that he's done, calling it surprisingly
01:07unpredictable.
01:08Well, I'm sure he didn't predict what happened last night but it seems that the crew and
01:15the cast are hoping that the drama stays strictly on the stage for the next performance.
