Wolves’ standout young players throughout the club

A look at the brightest young talents at Wolves.

00:00Charlie, looking at Wolves and in terms of the youngsters currently throughout their

00:05side now, there's obviously a few fantastic names. I mean, they've tapped into the Brazilian

00:10market as well with market signings like Pedro Lima, who they got from Chelsea's grass, which

00:16seemed fantastic. Paul Chelsea have, you know, João Gomes, obviously an incredibly young

00:24talent and an amazing talent in Brazil. They sort of love him over there. Andre as well,

00:29and these players are clearly top-half Premier League players. Whether they've got the sort of

00:37confidence to go and battle at the bottom of the Premier League is another sort of task.

00:41You know, we saw it with Mateus Nunes, that sort of failed for him. Obviously,

00:44they weren't really signed for a relegation scrap, but it's the situation they find themselves in.

00:49Just looking at Wolves and their squad as a whole, who sort of appeals as the standout youngsters?

00:55Obviously, there are some big assets there as well, especially ahead of the transfer windows.

01:01Yeah, I think it's a real shame that Enzo Gonzalez got his big injury in the summer,

01:05because I was really looking forward to seeing him. If you don't know him,

01:08he's a 19-year-old Paraguayan winger, quite similar in character to Julio Enciso,

01:13the Brighton winger, who also came from Libertad in Paraguay. Quite skillful,

01:19sure, agile, able to take on defenders and someone that essentially Wolves could have

01:23done with this season with Pedro Neto leaving the club. You could do with someone else who's

01:28got a bit more character to take on defenders. I know that Mateus Cunha is very good at doing that,

01:33but someone who's a little bit more raw and doesn't seem to care too much about what he's doing,

01:38just going for it. Maybe he could have been useful, but of course, we'll have to wait until

01:42next season to see him. Pedro Lima, as you mentioned, coming from Brazil, I think he's

01:47going to be a great player one day, but at 18 years of age, he still has a lot of developing

01:52to do before he can start games for Wolves. Maybe we can see him in the cup competitions

01:57a little bit more this season and next, but Wolves do see him as the long-term successor

02:02for Nelson Samedo. Samedo's nowhere near the end of his career just yet, but whether he moves on

02:07at the end of this season is another question. Potentially Lima could take on that baton.

02:12Rodrigo Gomez came to Wolves out of the grasp of Barcelona, who were looking at signing him,

02:1921 years of age, came from Portugal, scored plenty of goals and assisted plenty as well over

02:24in the Portuguese top flight last season. He's had the odd appearance here and there. I don't

02:29think we've seen his best just yet, but there have been glimpses of some real quality, especially

02:34with his dribbling and his ability to cross at the byline. And then one more player I want to see

02:39break through at some point is Bastien Mopieu, the centre-back, the French centre-back signed

02:44in the summer, only 18 years of age though, probably not quite the time to throw him in

02:49in the middle of a relegation scrap, and he has had some injuries since arriving at Wolves. So

02:53one that will eventually break through, but a lot of promise there

02:56for Bastien Mopieu who could break through in the Wolves' defence.
