00:00A company that produced clapperboards for Game of Thrones, one of Liverpool's most popular

00:04restaurants, plans to replace a Burger King with apartments, featuring today's business

00:08briefing.

00:09So Remy, I believe you've been out and about speaking to people for Insider.

00:17Yes, so over this last week I caught up with Peter Kinsella, who founded Lugna, a Catalonian

00:23restaurant in Liverpool, and he and his wife Elaine set it up in 2010, and really the idea

00:31of Lugna could be traced all the way back to his uni days, when he thought, oh, he was

00:35sure he was into his cooking and wanted to create a cooking business, but in the end

00:40he created a management consultancy business for health and social services.

00:45Slightly different.

00:46Very different, and then spent, I'd say, most of his working life running that, so not much

00:52time to do anything else, I suppose.

00:54But then it was in about 2008, just sort of that area of the noughties, when he went to

01:00Barcelona with business, with his business at the time, and was inspired to create sort

01:07of a Catalonian food there, you know.

01:112008 comes around and he first trials Lugna at a food festival, and then two years later

01:17him and Elaine open up Lugna in Liverpool, which is now a very, very popular establishment.

01:24And yeah, the story really is that him and Elaine are now, they've planned their retirement

01:29and they're actually going to exit the business, but instead of sort of straight up selling

01:33it maybe in a traditional sort of trade deal or to investors, he's gone for something different.

01:38It's much more wholesome, I'd say, and I'm not going to give it all away, because you

01:42can read about it, but yeah, quite a nice story, I'd say, quite a wholesome one for

01:46sure.

01:47And I think you've got some up from the North East for us.

01:50Yes, another interesting tale there.

01:52We've got news of a company that produced clapperboards for film and TV productions,

01:56including Game of Thrones.

01:58Very niche.

01:59And Peaky Blinders.

02:00Yeah, who would have thought, you don't really think about it, you see the clips and behind

02:04the scenes, you don't really think who produces these.

02:07Very in demand.

02:08As it turns out, it's 4130, which was established by Steve Aitchison, who had spent 15 years

02:14producing these clapperboards just as a side hustle alongside his regular role in the film

02:19and TV industry.

02:20So he eventually decided to pursue that full time during the pandemic after finding himself

02:26out of work, as many people did, of course.

02:29He started out in his garage before moving on to a dedicated unit in 2020.

02:36As demand has increased, the company has now secured an office at the North East BIC.

02:41So that new base is going to be opposite the proposed Crown Workstudios, which Aitchison

02:48expects to bring a whole host of benefits for the North East and the businesses there.

02:52So a potential growth story to look out for.

02:56Maybe see his work in some future episodes or something.

03:00Yeah, definitely.

03:01Now, I want to say this next story is definitely bad news for burger lovers, but I suppose

03:07it's good for those who like, you know, apartments.

03:10Well, we all need them.

03:11So we go to Bletchley in Milton Keynes, where plans have been given the green light to pretty

03:17much squash a Burger King drive-thru and turn it into 120 apartments.

03:22So on Albert Street, and the application has been lodged by Adil Catering, and it dates

03:28back to about five years ago.

03:31So it'll be 120 homes, but also two commercial units.

03:34And I thought it'd be funny if there was a Burger King in there.

03:38But I believe it's up to Yorkshire where we're going next.

03:41Yeah, so last thing from us today, Keelan Developments, which is the property trading

03:45arm of Calder Group and leases the company to Yorkshire Water, has sold its stake in

03:50a joint venture behind a major development in Leeds.

03:53So it sold its interest in Templegate Developments Limited to its joint venture partner Evans

03:58Property Group for an undisclosed sum.

04:00Now, Templegate Developments is the company behind the Skelton Gate development, which

04:04is a development on a 170-acre former opencast colliery site off to the east of Junction

04:1145 of the M1.

04:13To date, two phases of that development have been approved, and they would include 1,100

04:18homes, a new school, a local centre, and a food store.

04:22A real sort of whole community.

04:23Yeah, that's the idea behind it, is to bring forward this new community on a disused site.

04:29There's also the application for Phase 3 in the works, and that's going to be a further

04:33700 homes and new infrastructure, which of course is badly needed for those sorts of

04:37developments.

04:38The 27-acre Phase 1 site was sold in January 2022.

04:43Avant Homes and Evans Homes are planning to bring forward a combined 415 homes.

04:48The second phase of the site is also set to be sold to a housebuilder, saying that fully

04:52serviced so they can bring it forward.

04:55In total, the development is expected to support 500 jobs, so it's a really big scheme

04:59for the West Yorkshire region.

05:01Always good to hear about new jobs and supporting jobs.
