What’s your favourite Christmas chocolate?

Christmas is a time for giving, it’s a time for family, reflection on the year, spending time with loved ones and of course, it’s a time for chocolate. So we’re here in Newport talking to Christmas shoppers about their favourite fancies. Heroes, celebrations, quality streets and some old time treats that I’ve never heard of.

00:00Celebrations, but they always put the favourite ones the least amount in.

00:08I love the little Maltesers, but you only ever get a few of them in there.

00:12So I loved it last year when they did the whole box of just the Malteser ones.

00:16They're my favourite.

00:18I like the Malteser truffles as well. Love those.

00:21The chocolate's definitely got to be Bourneville.

00:23Dark, something dark, which goes along with a nice whiskey.

00:26The darker chocolates, the Continentals, something like that.

00:28None of the milk chocolates, a bit lactose intolerant,

00:30but something dark and nice, which can go with a number of foods.

00:33Orange is sweet, and I also like heroes as well, so they're my best.

00:37I like having.

00:39Have you got ones that you go for in those tubs, or just a selection of all of them?

00:42Selection, really. Chocolate is chocolate, isn't it?

00:45You know what I mean?

00:47Goes down very well, especially over Christmas.

00:49We don't have very much family. Family have all grown up,

00:52so everybody's watching their weight and their calories and goes to the gym,

00:56so, you know, chocolates are there.

00:59And, you know, if you see it, you have to eat it, don't you?

01:03And then regret it.

01:05Eclairs and milk trays and all that, you know.

01:09I'm not a big sweet eater, no.

01:12But all my family eats, and I know the model.

01:16I tend to leave the bounties in the Snickers, but I'll eat everything else,

01:20so I quite like the fact that you can just get a box,

01:22but you also have the choice of multiple different things in there as well.

01:25I have loads of chocolate. I have all kinds, if I can.

01:28Black magic, mint, anything.

01:30Anything that you can get your hands on.

01:32So I love it, yes.

01:34I shouldn't do it, but I'm diabetic.

01:37I think it's dairy milk.

01:40A bar of it.

01:42Rather than the chocolates with the wrapping on,

01:44you don't get anything like it.

01:46A bar of chocolates is much better.

01:48Some of the ones I just don't like.

01:50So, you know, and they tend to put caramels and creams and that sort of thing.

01:54Whereas a little bar of milk chocolate, I think, is the best.
