00:00The first ever Barangay Health Workers Summit in Iligal City was held by Shariff Timhar of Radyo Pilipinas, Iligan, in Balitang, Pambansang.

00:10The first ever Barangay Health Workers Summit in Iligan City was successfully held by the President of the Department of Health,

00:19Deputy Mayor of Iligan City, and more than 100 barangay health workers.

00:24The purpose of this is to promote the duties and responsibilities of barangay health workers as health promotion officers in the community,

00:31in accordance with the Universal Health Care Law or UHC.

00:34This is in line with the new Philippines campaign under the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.,

00:40where protection and attention is given to every health worker in the country.

00:45The main objective of this BHW is to streamline the rules and responsibilities of barangay health workers.

00:54They should think of themselves as health promotion officers in the community under the Universal Health Care Law.

01:02Iligan City Health Office Medical Officer, Dr. Ardel Castaneda Padayhaga,

01:07recognized the efforts of barangay health workers in Lungsoda as the providers of DOH's primary programs.

01:14With the achievements and accomplishments of Iligan City for the past years,

01:19barangay health workers are the backbone, they are the ones who provide the health priority programs of the DOH.

01:28Meanwhile, according to statistics, there are more than 16,000 barangay health workers in the entire region of Northern Mindanao,

01:35of which only 50% are accredited to the local health board.
