00:00Listen, congratulations. You were just nominated for an Independent Spirit Award.
00:04What does this honor mean to you?
00:06Well, I feel that my people in the industry know what I'm doing and are watching it and like it.
00:16And that's kind of great. That's about as much as you could ask for.
00:20This is a big year for you. Between Thelma, a milestone birthday. Is 2024 the year of June Squibb?
00:27I think it is. And hopefully next year, too. I have another film coming out next year that I'm very excited about.
00:34What is the feedback to Thelma? What has that response from everyone meant to you?
00:40I've never had so much love from people who've seen a film that I was in and wanted to tell me.
00:48I mean, everybody wants to let us know how much they love that film. And that's amazing.
00:55Of course, we are here celebrating women in entertainment.
00:58I have to ask, what is one thing you would tell your younger self who is about to embark on this journey of being a woman in entertainment?
01:07I think you have to find out who you are, but be comfortable with that and then go with it.
01:13And you don't listen to a lot of other people. I mean, you pick your mentors and you listen to them and that's it.
01:21And nobody else should make any difference. What they think should not make any difference to you.
01:27Finally, what is a female-led performance, outside of your own, that you want everyone to watch that came out this year?
01:34Oh, Blitz. Saucy Ronin. Yes. And the little boy is just heaven. It's a beautiful film.
