00:00How much of it is him maybe being in over his head or how much of it is not having great personnel?

00:08I think it's support around him. I don't think he personally is in over his head, although you could make that case fairly easily.

00:15He's inexperienced. He doesn't know what he doesn't know yet. He overestimates what perhaps some of his players can do.

00:23He has no pass rush, so that's fighting with one hand tied behind your back, so that's some personnel stuff.

00:30But I think it's a mix, and I think that a lot of it has to do with what we've discussed before in the brain drain.

00:36It's not just Bill Belichick leaving and his ability to probably walk over something and two seconds ago,

00:43oh, here's your problem right here, and then walk away. It's Steve Belichick leaving as a play caller,

00:47and it's Gerard Mayo's divided attention having gone from the defense full time to now probably giving a sliver of his time

00:56to the defense with all the things that he has to encounter as a first-year head coach.

00:59It just again shows us it's all crystallized. Boy, it's going to be hard for all these first-year head coaches

01:08or all these first-year coordinators who don't even know each other to have a good year together.

01:13In some ways, and I'm not pretending that it's good, in some ways, they've been more competitive than I would have expected

01:20given the inexperience and the talent level.
