00:00During the 45th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Arab leaders demanded an immediate
00:13hold to the Israeli attacks on the Palestinian people.
00:20In Syria, President Bashar al-Assad denounced that the terrorist offensive in Aleppo seeks
00:25to redraw the geopolitical map to serve Western interests in the region.
00:35And the Russian government warned that U.S. threats to impose tariffs for the exclusive
00:40use of the U.S. dollar will raise the BRICS' will to trade with their domestic currencies.
00:53Hello and welcome to From the South.
00:55My name is Belinda de los Santos, I'm from Telescope Studios in Caracas, Venezuela.
00:59We begin with the news.
01:15The Lebanese government denounces Israel for violating the November 27th ceasefire agreement.
01:22The President of the Lebanese Parliament, Nayib Bari, reported 52 Israeli violations
01:28in the last few days.
01:30Occupation forces killed one civilian and injured another in a drone strike, in addition
01:35to demolishing houses with bulldozers in the south of Lebanon.
01:40Since the ceasefire came into effect, the Israeli occupation targeted civilians, carried
01:45out bombings and air raids, in an attempt to stop the Lebanese people from returning
01:50to their homes.
01:56And Arab leaders demanded on Monday an immediate halt to the Israeli attacks on the Palestinian
02:01people during the 45th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the GCC, held in Kuwait.
02:07On an official statement, the GCC leaders underscored their strong support for the Palestinian
02:12cause and its sovereignty over all Palestinian territories occupied since June of 1967.
02:21They further urged for the establishing of an independent Palestinian state with East
02:26Jerusalem as its capital.
02:28In this regard, the Council's Secretary General, Yassim Al-Boudarwi, stressed the need for
02:34the international community to take steps and work comprehensively to achieve an immediate
02:40and permanent ceasefire.
02:46The Supreme Council called for an end to the killings and collective punishment in Gaza,
02:51the displacement of the population and the destruction of civilian facilities and infrastructure,
02:56including health facilities, schools and places of worship, in clear violation of international
03:01law and international humanitarian law.
03:04The Council urged for meddling in to safeguard civilians, stop the war and sponsor serious
03:09negotiations to reach sustainable solutions.
03:13Likewise, the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council condemned the constant Israeli aggressions
03:20towards Lebanon.
03:24The leaders of the GCC countries condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression toward Lebanon
03:28and warned against the aftermath of keeping up and broadening the conflict, which will
03:32lead to dire consequences for the regional peoples and international peace and security.
04:32Welcome back to From the South.
04:34We continue with the Middle East.
04:36Syrian President Bashar al-Assad denounced that the offensive launched by terrorist groups
04:40in the province of Aleppo seeks to redraw the geopolitical map to serve Western interests
04:47in the region.
04:48During a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Massoud Pesherskian, the Iranian president
04:53warned that the terrorist escalation goes beyond the country and seeks to divide the
04:58whole region.
05:00For his part, the Iranian head of state agreed that the attempts to damage the unity of Syria
05:05are a blow to the stability of the entire region, which he blamed on Israel and the
05:10United States.
05:12In this sense, Pesherskian reaffirmed his support to the efforts of the Syrian government
05:17to counter potential threats.
05:24And in Iran, the Foreign Ministry accused Israel of supporting terrorist factions in
05:29Syria.
05:35The Zionist regime has been actively supporting various terrorist groups.
05:40Their goal is clearly to weaken the resistance and Syria as one of the key elements in the
05:44resistance against occupation.
05:47It's always an old Israeli plot to disrupt security of the whole region and sow discord
05:52between various Islamic groups and countries.
06:02There are promising signs that regional countries have adopted a unified approach based on understanding
06:07the dangers caused by reactivation of terrorism.
06:11God willing they will assist in stopping the current trend and cracking down on the terrorist
06:15groups as soon as possible.
06:20In other news, the Russian government warned that U.S. threats to impose tariffs for the
06:25exclusive use of the U.S. dollar will raise the BRICS' will to trade with their domestic
06:30currencies.
06:31The spokesperson of the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, announced the strengthening of trade policies
06:36of the BRICS agenda following the statements of the U.S. President-elect Donald Trump about
06:42imposing trade tariffs on all products of the BRICS countries.
06:47The authority further ensured that the U.S. dollar is no longer enticing as a reserve
06:52currency, neither for the BRICS nor for the world.
06:56Moreover, Peskov foresaw that the decline in the use of the U.S. dollar will continue
07:01to take its course.
07:02Subsequently, the BRICS have been debating on the introduction of a joint currency from
07:07August 2023 to reduce dependency on the U.S. dollar and the euro, in addition to defending
07:14their country's sovereignties.
07:20And the Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov rejected Western countries' claims
07:26of an alleged ceasefire with Ukraine.
07:28Lavrov granted that the idea is unsustainable since the measure won't improve the situation
07:33in the region, nor will it lead to a lasting peace.
07:37In this regard, he also assured that President Putin is ready to hold a sincere talk with
07:42the Ukrainian authorities to reach an agreement that would benefit both sides.
07:47Furthermore, Lavrov stressed that the allies of the Kiev regime are seeking a ceasefire
07:52so it can gather a new arsenal of weapons against Moscow.
08:03Western countries allied with Ukraine have initially referred to a ceasefire as a way
08:08to give the Kiev regime a way out.
08:10But they would also have the chance with this ceasefire to rearm themselves with modern
08:15arsenals and long-range weapons.
08:17This, of course, is not the roadmap for peace.
08:23And the Eastern Route Pipeline connecting China to Russia initiated its operation on
08:28Monday.
08:29So, experts informed that it will be able to transport up to 38 billion cubic meters
08:34of natural gas per year.
08:36The project has a single pipeline of over 5,000 kilometers.
08:40Consequently, it is considered the largest gas pipeline in the country as it extends
08:45from the Heihe town to Shanghai.
08:48Furthermore, the supply will meet the annual gas needs of over 450 million people in nine
08:55provinces and regions.
08:57In addition to its importance for China, the Chinese-Russian gas pipeline showcases the
09:03growing energy collaboration with Russia and the strengthening of its exports to Asia
09:09after the Western sanctions due to the conflict in Ukraine.
09:16The launch of the pipeline significantly improves the reliability and flexibility of gas supply
09:21in eastern China.
09:22The project's annual supply capacity has grown from the initial 5 billion cubic meters
09:27to 38 billion cubic meters today, ensuring sufficient gas supply for peak demand periods
09:33that will extend from this winter to next spring.
09:40And the Georgian Prime Minister, Irakli Kovayidze, accused the West of financing domestic riots.
09:46At a government meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted that the violent rallies are being
09:51coordinated with foreign sponsorship in an attempt to destabilize processes in Georgia.
09:57The diplomat added that in the past four years, third countries have bolstered three
10:01riots to burst out a color revolution.
10:05In this regard, the authority warned that the financing revolutionary protests in Georgia
10:10is the wrong attitude towards his nation.

10:57Welcome back from the south.
11:05Thai authorities rate the death toll from 9 to 22 as a result of floods affecting the
11:11south of the country.
11:13The storm has further raised over 664,000 homes, making the government find shelters
11:20to over 22,000 evacuees.
11:23In addition, disasters prevention authorities reported that floods continue hitting seven
11:28provinces, so the alert is expected to be kept until Thursday.
11:33In the past 15 days, storms have caused severe flash flooding in Malaysia, namely in the
11:39northern states, leaving at least three deaths and over 131,000 evacuees.
11:51On Monday, protesters gathered outside the United Nations' top court calling for climate
11:56justice as the landmark climate change case has opened.
12:00The International Court of Justice took up the largest case in its history, hearing the
12:05plight of seven small island nations helpless in combating the devastating impact of climate
12:12change that endangers their very survival.
12:15The nations demanded that major polluting countries be held accountable.
12:21Last year, the UN General Assembly asked the International Court of Justice for an
12:25opinion on the obligations of states in respect to climate change.
12:30A decision by this court would be non-binding advice, and it couldn't be directly enforced
12:37on wealthy nations into action to help the struggling countries.
12:45One of the questions of the two questions that have been taken to court includes historical
12:48responsibilities and that includes reparations.
12:52There will be countries who will be putting forth their cases, especially in the Pacific,
12:55about historical responsibilities in terms of reparations and payments of countries that
13:00have actually caused the climate crisis in the developed world.
13:04And for us Pacific Islanders, we also need the finances that is required to adapt, mitigate
13:09and also counter the losses and damages that we incur due to the climate crisis.
13:18And in other news in Guinea, dozens of people were killed in clashes between fans during
13:23a football match.
13:25Authorities informed that dissatisfaction with the referee's decisions favoring the
13:29home team prompted visitors to initiate violent actions and clashes with the police.
13:36As a result, the security teams fired tear gas in order to contain the angry mob and
13:42to disperse the crowd.
13:44In this context, hospital authorities have put the provisional death toll at 56, with
13:50several others also injured.
13:57Sport has traditionally been an opportunity to promote national unity and social cohesion.
14:03However, demonstrations of dissatisfaction with refereeing decisions led to stone-throwing
14:08by fans, resulting in fatal stampedes.
14:12Hospital authorities have put the provisional death toll at 56, with several others injured.
14:20And we go now to South America, as the Venezuelan International Tourism Fair closed, positioning
14:26the country as an attractive international destination and promoting its economic development.
14:31Let's listen to the governor of Tachira regarding this event.
14:39Venezuela is a country at peace.
14:42It is a safe country.
14:45And it is a country that, despite unilateral sanctions, is growing and advancing in prosperity.
14:53Venezuela is not stopped by anyone, and this must also be said, this is a recognition to
14:59our president.
15:01It is a recognition to the persistence and courage of a man who, despite immense difficulties,
15:07remains strong.
15:10He manages to face the sanctions and grows together with his people.
15:15So the Fitvin has achieved several objectives.
15:19There is a political objective, which is the recognition of the country, there is an economic
15:25objective, which is a country that grows in the midst of difficulties, and there is
15:30a human objective, which is the reunion with the people.
15:34We see here the representatives of the BRICS.
15:37We have Russia here, we have China, and we also have South Africa.
15:42The four of them represent, almost, half of the population of the world.
15:48And like this, we have come to the end of this news brief.
