00:40Hello, welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Delezou Studios in Havana,
00:47Cuba.
00:48Let's begin with the news.
01:07In Palestine, the Hamas resistance movement requests support from the international community
01:12to stop Israel's crimes and to provide the necessary aid to the Gaza Strip.
01:16Some media reported that the spokesperson of Hamas issued statements regarding the latest
01:21political developments and the war that has been taking place in Gaza since October 7,
01:262023.
01:27In this sense, the Hamas representatives mentioned that the conflict has been going on for 415
01:32consecutive days, being one of the cruelest wars in contemporary history, noting that
01:37the lack of action by the Arab and Islamic countries has contributed to the conflict's
01:41prolongation.
01:42Authorities further stressed that Israel has committed numerous heinous crimes in the Gaza
01:47Strip, including assassinations, starvation and obstructing the arrival of medical aid
01:52and supplies even in the winter.
01:58The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees warned that the risk
02:02of drought and disease threatens the lives of residents of the Gaza Strip amid Israeli
02:07aggressions.
02:08UNRWA added that the drought in Gaza is due to the lack of fuel to operate the water wells,
02:13especially in the north of the Strip, which has been subjected to an escalation in the
02:17genocide for some 50 days.
02:19The UN agency denounced that some 70,000 Palestinians are struggling to obtain water, a basic human
02:26right that remains out of reach for many.
02:29The situation is made worse by the shortage of food and medical supplies due to the persistent
02:33Israeli genocide and the border blockades that prevent the entry of humanitarian aid.
02:41An Israeli genocidal forces have besieged over 130,000 children younger than 10 years
02:47old for 50 days in northern Gaza, depriving them of water, food, medicine and all possible
02:53humanitarian aid.
02:54Save the Children lead an independent organization, the NAUSO, and it has made repeated calls
02:59to notice the impending risk of famine in the area.
03:03The movement claimed that they have been hampered to enter for seven weeks.
03:07As a result, they have been unable to deliver the food packages prepared for 5,000 families
03:12in addition to 725 hygiene kits and other supplies.
03:16Earlier Save the Children could allocate aid with the support of local partners, but now
03:22all alternatives have been closed.
03:28The Israeli government preliminarily accepted a possible ceasefire agreement in Lebanon.
03:33The official Israeli broadcasting authority made the announcement after specifying that
03:37although Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to evaluate the proposal for a ceasefire
03:42put forward by the United States, the decision is not final.
03:45This comes in the context of a visit by U.S. Envoy Amos Holstein, who gave a deadline to
03:52reach an agreement.
03:54The U.S. representative notified Israel that if it does not reach an agreement in the next
03:58few days, it will abandon the negotiations.
04:15Kurzprovinz Governor Alexei Smirnov reported that Russian air forces repel a new large-scale
04:20Ukrainian drone attack.
04:22The official further detailed that the authorities successfully neutralized seven missiles and
04:26seven UAVs.
04:27Kyiv wastes millions of dollars from U.S. and European citizens' taxes on attacks of
04:33this nature.
04:34All of them are aimed directly or indirectly against the civilian population, impacting
04:38vital services such as water, electricity or fuel supply.
04:42The vast majority of these attacks, labeled by the Russian government as terrorist attacks,
04:46are thwarted by the Russian defense forces.
04:53The Russian government reaffirmed its goodwill to negotiate for the peace process with Ukraine
04:58Russian Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov asserted that his government has always been open to
05:02peace talks.
05:03Moreover, Peskov highlighted that President Vladimir Putin is ready to settle differences
05:07with Ukraine, but on his own terms.
05:10In this regard, members of the Federation Council assured a possible decline in allocating
05:15aid to Ukraine after Trump's victory, while legislators of the two months said that the
05:19decision should be made by the Kremlin and not by the White House.
05:22Meanwhile, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart, who received
05:27recently held a telephone conversation in which they discussed several issues, including
05:32the peace process with Ukraine and the readiness of the parties.
05:40In Germany, activists demand compensation from Ukraine for damage and loss of profit
05:45caused by the explosion of the Nord Stream gas pipeline.
05:48The most recent investigations hold Kiev responsible for the attack, carried out by Ukrainian divers
05:53and led by Valery Zaluby, then commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
05:59The organization stopped the sanctions caused on the German government to suspend aid to
06:03Kiev until the government of President Volodymyr Zelensky honors the compensation payments.
06:08They claim that the attack was directed specially against Germany, and they also denounce the
06:12United States' involvement.

06:47Welcome back.
06:48The United Nations Children's Fund warned on Sunday of the on-present spike in violence
06:52affecting children and adolescents in Haiti.
06:54In less than a year, the recruitment of minors by criminal groups has increased by 70 percent.
07:00Agency studies estimate that half of the criminal groups are made up of minors.
07:04The plans imposed by the United States on the Caribbean nation have aggravated violence,
07:08generalized poverty, lack of access to education and the collapse of basic services.
07:13According to a UNICEF report, all these causes have fueled the wave of violence and helplessness
07:20And in Mexico, the Chamber of Senators announced that over 10,000 people have registered to
07:30participate in the judicial election scheduled for 2025 in the country.
07:34The Oval House informed in a statement that the postulation of candidacies via email was
07:38enabled when the deadline expired.
07:40Likewise, the Evaluation Committee of the different public bodies will assess each aspirant
07:45to partake in the election scheduled for June 1st, 2025.
07:50In this sense, the elections stem from judicial reform, in which citizens will elect, by popular
07:55vote, nine ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice, five magistrates of the Court
07:58of Judicial Discipline, two of the Superior Chamber of the Electoral Court of Judicial
08:03Power, 15 of the Regional Courts, and 464 of the Circuit Courts and 386 District Judges.
08:16More than 9,000 young people throughout the country have registered in the executive branch
08:21alone, and want to be honest judges, magistrates, honest magistrates, honest ministers.
08:33That is the fourth transformation.
08:35It has principles and causes that we must never betray.
08:41Venezuela's parliament holds an intensive information and training session ahead of
08:46the elections for judges of peace to be held on December 15th to consolidate the communal
08:51government scheme.
08:52The legislators have been deployed across the nation to keep posted the already organized
08:57communes about the historical process.
08:59In addition, the period for the nominations of judges will be held from Monday through
09:04Thursday, November 28th.
09:06The electoral commissions of the 5,240 communal circuits in the country will be responsible
09:12for receiving the applications and evaluating the suitability of the candidates in accordance
09:17with the law.
09:18An inequitable authorities registered a historic record high of more than 76,000 hectares burned
09:27so far in 2024 by forest fires.
09:30The National Risk Management Secretariat reports that there are currently 13 active fires in
09:35five provinces.
09:36The province of Loja is the most affected so far, with 32,958 hectares destroyed, including
09:42areas of the Puerto Carpuz National Park.
09:45The Ecuadorian Air Force discharged 19,000 liters of water as part of the firefighting
09:51efforts in which more than 300 firefighters and 200 volunteers are participating.
09:55Authorities added that so far this year, forest fires have left seven people injured, 235
10:00victims, and 317 people affected.
10:06Global media outlets reported that U.S. President-elect Donald Trump is preparing an executive order
10:13aimed at expelling transgender soldiers from the military.
10:16The outlets unfolded that the Republican will sign the order on his first day in office.
10:21As a result, at least 15,000 soldiers will be discharged from the U.S. Army, alleging
10:26that they are unfit for duty.
10:28The President-elect made that decision long before as he had criticized the Army's progressive
10:33practices, saying they are more focused on inclusion than on combat planning.
10:38Earlier, Trump prevented transgender people from joining the military on his first term,
10:43but by that time he allowed those already serving to keep their posts.
10:52And in Brazil, thousands of revelers gather alongside Copacabana Beach for Rio de Janeiro's
10:57annual Pride Parade on Sunday.
10:59Let's see.
11:02Rainbow-colored flags, towels and fans abounded among the crowd, mostly made up of young people
11:08who danced and sang along to music blaring from speakers.
11:13While the atmosphere was festive, some spoke of the threat of violence LGBTQ plus people
11:19face in Brazil.
11:22At least 230 LGBTQ plus Brazilians were victims of violent deaths in 2023.
11:30According to the Umbrella Watchdog Group Observatory of LGBTQ plus deaths and violence in Brazil.
11:37And more trans people were murdered in Brazil last year than in any other country, according
11:42to Transgender Europe, a network of global nonprofits that tracks the data.
11:49Despite the violence and rejection to which they are still subjected, LGBTQ plus communities
11:55continue to fight for the right to be respected, to have a family or simply to have a life.
12:05We all have the right to be who we want to be.
12:08It's important that people understand that.
12:11We're here to raise awareness, to make people aware that this is our right, everyone's right,
12:16to be who we want to be, to choose who we want to be, to have a life, to have a family.
12:22And that's what I'm here for, for sure, carrying the flag.
12:26One of the themes of this year's Pride March was sustainability.
12:31Environmental justice will only be possible with racial and social justice, gender equality
12:37and sexual diversity.
12:38Brazil has faced a series of environmental catastrophes this year, including record
12:43drought in the Amazon rainforest, floods in the southern Rio Grande, do Sol state and
12:49wildfires across the country.

13:29Cuba strides once again ahead of peace and reconciliation to the world within the framework
13:33of the 11th Plenarization of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, held in
13:38Cambodia in Southeast Asia.
13:40The plenarization was founded in 2017 as a mechanism to promote the culture of peace
13:45and fight off discrimination and extreme violence, while the International Parliament
13:51is made up of 58 delegations representing parliaments of different global regions.
13:56On the 11th Plenarization, the Cuban delegation appreciated the support of the meeting in
14:00the struggle against the inhumane U.S. blockade.
14:02Likewise, the Cuban representatives reaffirmed their commitment to peace, tolerance and reconciliation
14:07grounded in ethics, humanism and dignity of the Cuban Revolution.
14:14An opportunity to express once again Cuba's steadfast will to continue expanding and diversifying
14:28its relations on the grounds of dialogue, respect for sovereignty and peace among all
14:34nations.
14:37On behalf of the Cuban people, I would like to express our deepest gratitude for the permanent
14:44and unwavering support in the struggle of our country and the world for putting an end
14:51to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America.
14:58In Pakistan, thousands of supporters of former Prime Minister Inran Khan marched demanding
15:04his release despite heavy security measures in Islamabad.
15:07The national march, called by the Pro-Freedom Movement, which has overcome attempts to cordon
15:12off several cities, continues sparking violent clashes with security forces.
15:16The target is Islamabad, which despite keeping its central areas blocked, has not been able
15:22to stop thousands of citizens to continue advancing amid violent clashes with the forces
15:27of law and order.
15:29Protesters are demanding the release of Khan, whose arrest last year triggered widespread
15:33rallies and led to a political crisis in Pakistan.
15:41In France, several cities witnessed massive demonstrations calling for a new law to protect
15:46women and minors who suffer from any form of sexual violence.
15:50France registered worrying rates of gender violence in the year 2023.
15:54At least 93 women were victims of femicide.
15:57Protesters demand that a new legislation include the notion of consent, inspired by the case
16:01of Giselle Pellicott, who was drugged by her husband to be raped by dozens of men,
16:05under the motto that rapists are the ones who should feel ashamed.
16:09Pellicott confronted the perpetrators in a trial conspiring thousands of women and the
16:14urgent revision of laws.
16:16In France, a woman is raped every six minutes and only 0.5% result in a conviction for the
16:21aggressor.
16:26In Lithuania, a Boeing 737 cargo aircraft crashed Monday into a residential building
16:31nearby the Vilnius airport.

16:44reaching the airport.
16:45A Spanish-born pilot died in the incident, while the other two crew members were rushed
16:49for medical assistance.
16:51The building hit by the crash had minor damages and no injuries were reported, but everyone
16:56was evacuated for safety.
17:12In Italy, the Fontana di Trevi is the most famous fountain in the Mediterranean country
17:17and one of the most emblematic monuments in Europe.
17:20Let's see some details.
17:24The Fontana di Trevi is located in the district of Trevi, in Rome, the capital of Italy.
17:31It is a fountain of Baroque style that began to be built in the year 1732, but due to several
17:38complications it was finished 30 years later in 1762, and in its design, many architects
17:44and sculptors of the time participated.
17:47The fountain is located on the facade of the Palazzo Pali, and it is 20 meters wide and
17:5326 meters high.
17:55It is said, according to documents of the time, that after the fountain was built it
17:59had the best tasting water in all of Rome.
18:03For centuries locals and tourists, even the Vatican authorities used to drink its water,
18:08but this practice was prohibited in 1961.
18:14The main artistic theme that composes the Fontana di Trevi is the sea.
18:19In the center there is the statue of the Titan Oceano, framed by columns.
18:25In the lower part the representation of a rocky cliff and on it, two winged horses that
18:30are known as Agitated and Placid, representing the two states of the sea.
18:35On the sides of the ocean, the statues of abundance on the right side and of healthiness
18:40on the left side.
18:42The fountain is accompanied by a plaza that allows visitors to appreciate it and has become
18:47an icon of Baroque architecture today.
18:51In 1954 the film Three Coins in the Fountain was released and since then tourists from
18:57all over the world have the habit of throwing coins into the fountain, from which approximately
19:021 million euros are extracted every year, and since 2007 the money is used for the conservation
19:08of the fountain or for charitable purposes.
19:11Last May 21st some climate change activists dyed its waters black to demand a halt to
19:16the use of fossil fuels.
19:18The site, however, was not permanently damaged.
19:21The Trevi Fountain, together with the historic center of Rome, are recognized as a World
19:26Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1980.
