00:00and the

00:10Heavy rains and flash flooding
00:11caught many unawares today in
00:13the absence of a weather alert
00:15with flooding reported in
00:17Karanaj, Gulengu, and Degomartin
00:20to the west. To Maraval, Samwa,
00:21and Mount Lambert to the north.
00:23Along the north coast road, two
00:25landslides blocked traffic flow
00:27in and out of Maracas. When TV
00:29reports of landslides hit
00:31Maracanã, the area was hit by
00:33heavy rains and flooding.
00:35Suburbs earlier today urged
00:37motorists to take extra
00:38precaution.
00:38We have people on site, but
00:40because of the weather, it's
00:42keeping us back a little bit.
00:44But we have people already on
00:46site to get it sorted out.
00:48We expect to have a couple
00:50fallen trees, but we do have a
00:52lot of people outside there, so
00:54we will attend to them once we
00:56get some ease on the weather.
00:58These areas, you need to be a
01:00little careful, because we are
01:02in the peak of the rainy season,
01:04and it is almost certain that
01:06you will get some trees fallen
01:08based on the type of weather
01:10pattern that we're getting now.
01:12So we normally ask people to
01:14just proceed with caution.
01:16Landslides also occurred in some
01:18areas.
01:25Strong winds were also reported,
01:27with at least two roofs reported
01:29blown off in St. James and
01:31Aranguas.
01:32The Met Office is advising that
01:34more activity can be expected
01:36tonight.
01:36We had a low-level trough
01:38pass through today.
01:40That, in combination with
01:42localized heating, would have
01:44resulted in thunderstorm
01:46activity, favoring mainly the
01:48northern parts of the country.
01:50Most of the activity would have
01:52moved off.
01:53We had a low-level trough
01:55pass through today.
01:57Most of the activity would have
01:59moved off.
02:00So now things are settling, and
02:02we should be settled for going
02:04into the nighttime.
02:06In terms of additional rainfall,
02:08some showers are expected
02:10overnight, and a possible low
02:12chance for the thunderstorm as
02:14well.
02:15Sunday is expected to bring
02:17mostly cloudy conditions, with
02:19periods of showers and
02:21thunderstorms.
02:21So tomorrow we are expecting
02:23showers, intersperse with the
02:25sunshine.
02:26There is a chance of
02:28thunderstorm activity as well,
02:30and with that, there will be the
02:32chance for street flooding and
02:34gusty wind.
