00:00Wow! He will literally jump in the water and swim back to the boat, and that is not something
00:07we've taught him to do. When Ronnie swims, he's like a pro.
00:11Come on, good boy. Good boy.
00:16Did you jump in again, Ronnie?
00:19When we're sailing, Ronnie, if he's up on deck, it's only if it's really calm.
00:28He was born to be a boat cat. He's always been perfectly happy on board.
00:34I guess our lifestyle makes him feel free. He wants to be part of everything that we
00:39do, and that includes paddleboarding. So he'll cry to get on the paddleboard, and I'll take
00:44him for a paddle.
00:46Oh, my goodness.
00:50Want a little family excursion? If we're near land, I'll drop him off at the beach.
00:58Off you go, Ronnie. You don't mind it, do you? Good boy.
01:07He's just a very adventurous cat, and nothing fazes him at all. Ronnie was like my first
01:13rainbow baby. He could tell when I was sad. He would actually sit on my tummy and curl
01:18up like he knew where the source of my pain was. It was amazing.
01:22Ronnie came into our lives after really difficult times. We were trying to expand our family,
01:30and sadly we went through devastating pregnancy losses. We were staying on land, and one day
01:35this little ginger face appeared at our window. We let him in.
01:43He slowly integrated into our lives. We tried a life jacket on him, and that didn't go very
01:48well. Got him a pet passport. So we took the leap, took him on a plane, and we brought him
01:55back to the road.
01:56Do you want to come and check it out? Come on, then.
01:57I can't get him out of there. That's it, right. Got that. Put that there.
02:02Ronnie, come. It's like his own little home.
02:05He's like, what's this weird place?
02:07What do you think of your new home? What do you think, darling? Do you like it here?
02:13It's pretty neat, huh?
02:15We went through another loss, and I happened to be walking up through town, and there was
02:20this tiny, petrified kitten. Managed to get hold of her, put her straight into my jumper,
02:26turned straight back around, and just walked home to the boat again.
02:30According to the vet, she was abandoned by her mom, but home is where the heart is. I
02:35think she could feel that. She felt safe.
02:38Ronnie almost hunted her at first, and then he almost overnight just took her under his
02:44wing and became like a father figure to her. Everywhere he went, she would follow him and
02:50climb up him and sleep on him, and eventually they were completely inseparable.
02:55Ronnie and Smidge definitely came into our lives for reasons. They have been the sunshine
03:02we needed during a very dark time.
03:06It's been five years since we came to live on the boat, and they complete our home.
03:13Our boat might move around, but it's always home, no matter where we are.
