Rescue Pigeon Loves To Massage Her Cat Sisters

Rescue pigeon ends up bonding with her cat sisters — she loves to give them massages and take naps together! We talked to Franklin's mom about raising a NYC rescue pigeon in her apartment

00:00If we're eating something, we'll make her a little pancake or a little taco or a little

00:09pizza.

00:10She gets everything as well.

00:11It's pretty delicious, isn't it?

00:12Do you want some?

00:15Anytime somebody's eating, she wants to know, just like a dog.

00:19Pigeons are really just straight dogs with wings.

00:21Jackie, you have something on your head.

00:23Miss Jackie coming through the door, she'll fly right to her head.

00:26We live in New York, so we film the pigeons a lot.

00:28I never thought we'd have one.

00:34Just never realized we could get that attached to a bird or a pigeon and how lovable a pigeon

00:39could be.

00:40They just want love and affection like everything else.

00:47Franklin was found as a baby, and she was removed from her nest.

00:51The maintenance team in our building, they were keeping her alive.

00:55When I first met her, it was love at first sight, and I just knew I had to keep her in

00:58my life.

01:01So we decided to take Franklin in and continue raising her on our balcony because we thought

01:06that she would return to the wild.

01:09When we first got her, she didn't really have feathers.

01:10She had, you know, missing patches of feather and fur.

01:13Who's the cutest baby bird in the world?

01:17Within a week, she was growing her feathers back.

01:20We were teaching her a lot of how to be a New York pigeon.

01:23We decided to take her to the park and give her some flying lessons.

01:32We were also teaching her to meet other pigeons and socialize.

01:35Once she did learn how to fly and she was flying around the building with her friends,

01:40she would just come back to us.

01:47And she would just look at us in the window, like, can I come in?

01:49She kept being so interested in what we were doing inside and talking to the cats through

01:53the window so that as soon as we opened that door, and she just flew right up to the couch

01:57and she's like, I'm here now.

02:01Franklin became attached to us over time.

02:04She loves to cook with you.

02:07She loves to paint with Dave.

02:09She loves to watch TV with us.

02:13She likes to sit on me while I'm napping.

02:17She likes to hop up on the cats while they're napping.

02:21Franklin is in love with the cats.

02:24Franklin comes out and gives massages.

02:26She's got these cute little feet that walk around.

02:28It's spa day for the cats.

02:29If they go in the other room, she's like, oh, where are they going?

02:32I'm going to go in the other room too.

02:34She loves to eat with them.

02:36She loves to nap with them.

02:40She likes to watch the other pigeons with them.

02:44She also likes to go swim in the cats' water bowls.

02:49Jackie did a good job with introducing them through the cat houses, so they got to sniff

02:53each other and kind of got to know each other a little bit before actually ever being out

02:57together.

02:58Franklin and the cat, they are always supervised.

03:00We don't leave the house and leave them together alone.

03:04What's up, my baby baby?

03:07We thought that we were going to bring her up and then she was going to be released back

03:10into the wild, and apparently that's something that just is never going to happen because

03:14birds imprint.

03:18Franklin is the heart of our family, and everything kind of revolves around her.

03:25We've definitely fallen in love with her.
