Curlew Action appeal with charity patron, singer David Gray

David became our patron after reading Mary's book Curlew Moon and contacted Mary asking to support her mission to protect curlews. Since then David has worked tirelessly to help spread the word and to raise funds. During our 2021 World Curlew Day sponsored kiltwalk David walked 31 miles with our team and helped us raise over £30,000 for curlew conservation! David has contributed to two of our curlew films and is highlight curlew awareness through his new album "Skellig

00:17me ever since I was a little boy and I first heard it. It was the sound of the Curlew.

00:23The Curlew was once widespread as a breeding bird across much of the UK and Ireland, but

00:28it's now disappearing at a really terrifying rate. Now the Curlew's music is more than

00:36just bird song, to me it's the very essence of our wild places. I think to lose an ancient

00:41magic like this that's inspired poets down the generations, it's just unthinkable. Curlew
