We venture just off the Penn Road to Crafty happenings to meet Sarah the owner and find out about all the shop has to offer and how healthy the Black Country is when it comes to craft and art.

00:00So we're here with the Crafty Happenings in Wolverhampton and Madam, introduce yourself.

00:04I'm Sarah.

00:05And this is your baby, this is your project.

00:07Definitely, yes.

00:09Well, I mean, we can see there's a lot of colour, there's a lot of interesting artwork around,

00:13but what is the Crafty Happenings? What's it all about?

00:16Well, we're an independent gift shop and we look after between 40-45 makers,

00:23artists and small businesses, some of whom are from local areas,

00:28but some further afield now as well, from Brighton, Kettering, all over the place.

00:34So you were originally a Cardiff girl.

00:37You discovered wolves via the University, or the Poly, as was there, and you never left.

00:43You lost the return ticket.

00:46So we're just off, not far off the Pen Road really, what's the address here?

00:50We're 199A Windsor Avenue.

00:52Windsor Avenue, next door to the toy shop, if people know that.

00:56And it's fantastic stuff in here.

00:58We've got a bit of everything, haven't we?

00:59We've got dried flowers, cards, just talk us through some of the products that people can see and pick up.

01:04We've got a huge range of products.

01:06We've got gift kits, we've got hand-dyed yarn, we've got home decor,

01:11and as you said, dried flowers, jewellery and a lovely range of cards for every occasion.

01:18Yeah, you have got some fantastic cards actually.

01:21And workshops as well, that's kind of a lot of stuff that happens here.

01:25We do creative workshops for both adults and children.

01:29So we run regular kids workshops through the summer holidays and half-terms

01:33and adult workshops all the way through the year.

01:37And you were saying, the lady that does the dried flowers,

01:39she's doing a Christmas wreath workshop coming up.

01:42We'll be doing Christmas wreath workshops along with needle felted gnomes.

01:47Yeah, I love that look.

01:49We've got Christmas calligraphy cards and we've also got a brand new course new to us,

01:54lino printing as well this year.

01:56Fantastic, yeah.

01:57I was loving the idea of the Makrami Santy we were chatting about earlier.

02:02So it's just you here that's based on site here?

02:07That's correct.

02:08So what's opening times?

02:12We're open Tuesdays till Saturdays.

02:15So Tuesdays and Fridays we're 11am till 3pm

02:18and then the rest of the week we're here 11am till 5pm.
