Emotions ran high for family members of Hong Kong’s pro-democracy activists as the city’s High Court on Tuesday (Nov 19) sentenced 45 activists to jail terms of up to 10 years in a landmark national security trial. 00:40The whole trial is unfair because what they have done is only, you know,

00:45to do what the basic law has laid down,

00:50it is their right to put pressure to the administration

00:55to let them respond to the majority of Hong Kong people.

01:00So I don't know what is their criminal offence.

01:20It's within my expectation, as I said.

01:25So I'm not shocked.

01:35Of course, I'm not thrilled and I'm not sad.

01:40I just feel very calm right now.

02:05with political freedoms and freedom of speech

02:10and the NSL 47 trial is one of them.

02:20But at the same time, the US government condemns the continuous prosecution

02:25of individuals here in Hong Kong

02:30who are expressing their political views, exercising their freedom of speech,

02:35and wanting to participate in a political process

02:40for their own jurisdiction here for Hong Kong.
