Hong Kong’s High Court has found media tycoon and pro-democracy activist Jimmy Lai guilty of conspiracy to collude with foreign forces, in the most high-profile case brought under China’s national security law. The verdict could see the 78-year-old jailed for life.  Lai, founder of the now-closed Apple Daily newspaper, has already spent five years in detention. Supporters describe him as a defender of press freedom, while Beijing views him as a key figure behind anti-government protests.
