Storm threat set to return to the Plains

A risk for heavy rain and severe storms is coming back to the Plains from Nov. 17-18.

00:00As we head into Sunday, that's when the big changes will be moving in.

00:04So here's a look at the flood threat for this weekend.

00:07It's primarily going to be Sunday evening, Sunday night, and Monday morning.

00:10Take a look at this.

00:11This flooding threat will extend from West Texas all the way into central parts of Iowa,

00:16including Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and parts of Nebraska as well.

00:20That's the flooding threat.

00:22This right here is your updated AccuWeather Storm Zone.

00:25This is where we'll see the highest potential for severe storms as we head throughout Sunday

00:29afternoon, Sunday evening, and especially Sunday night.

00:32So here's the updated storm zone.

00:33You can see any storms that form in this area or any storms that move into this area will

00:39be capable of producing some small hail, some strong winds, some brief heavy downpours of

00:43rainfall, and yes, there will be a low tornado threat as well.

00:46So we will be watching that very carefully.

00:48This extends from central Oklahoma down into central Texas and west parts of Texas.

00:52So Oklahoma City, Enid, Elk City, all the way down through parts of Wichita Falls, Dallas,

00:58Gainesville, Waco, Austin, Abilene, Big Spring, San Angelo, Midland, Del Rio.

01:03All these towns are going to be under the threat of severe weather as we head throughout

01:06this weekend.

01:07Over the past couple of hours, we've enjoyed nice clear skies.

01:10You saw it with that live look at Dallas.

01:12That's going to be the theme here once again as we head into tonight.

01:15Clear skies during the overnight hours means chillier conditions.

01:18We'll see 40s tonight in Oklahoma City, 50s, and even some 60s there across the Gulf Coast

01:23for overnight lows heading into your Saturday.

01:25Now, before that cold front arrives on the front portion of that, we're going to be warmer

01:30and breezier.

01:31But on the backside, yes, that cool air is going to slowly be pulled in.

01:34So highs across the southern plains for your Saturday, 70s, even some 80s.

01:39Overall, perfect weather here for your Saturday afternoon.

01:42If you have any weekend plans, try to get them done on Saturday because Sunday is going

01:46to be when the storm chances roll in.

01:48Here's a look at the low temperatures for Saturday night.

01:50Much more mild, 50s and 60s here for Sunday morning.

01:54But Sunday afternoon, that's when we're going to be watching out for some warmer weather

01:57that will kick off that chance of shower storms and that severe weather threat.

02:01So highs on Sunday, it'll still be warm, but overall, we will be watching out for that

02:05threat of severe weather here as we head throughout Sunday afternoon and as we head into parts

02:09of Sunday evening.

02:10So once again, here's that updated look at that storm zone.

02:14It's going to be for central Oklahoma, central Texas, and the west parts of Texas.

02:18Future radar is showing that the storms will start to go off around midday on Sunday, and

02:22it looks like they'll start to peak as we head into Sunday afternoon.
