Is There Any 'Buzz' For Texans-Cowboys?

The Texans-Cowboys matchup on Monday Night Football does not seem to have the same buzz around it as expected ahead of the season. But it should be a good night for Texans fans, The Drive's Ron Hughley says.

00:11I ain't gonna lie to you. There's no juice in this game at all. Um, I, I thought guys,

00:17when the schedule came out, this would be the biggest game of the season. Uh, it is

00:21not, um, I'd like to be clear. You're talking about Cowboys. I'm talking about Cowboys,

00:26Texans. I thought this would be the biggest game of the season. It is not hell. I thought

00:30we may do something special for it. We're not. And I mean, obviously the Cowboys have

00:37made it even worse with their injuries and they're just falling apart. But I mean the

00:43Texans right now are just, you know, the, the, the fan base is probably at the lowest

00:47point that they have been. I think we've said that two weeks in a row now, but the lowest

00:51point that they have ever been, uh, with the Texans in the D'Amico era. Uh, and so

00:57their buzz is down, you know, we thought we'd have two, two really good football teams maybe

01:01potentially facing off and there's a battle. I think we should still go. I can meet y'all

01:07Sunday night. I'll buy Javier's. Yeah, that's cool. You talking about driving? Well, I'll,

01:14I'll be flying in from somewhere else, but yeah, I'll meet y'all there. Javier's me flying

01:18in from somewhere. Oh, it's Monday. I'm out. I think Bajani's coming over to watch it.

01:23Is he? Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait a second. We're neighbors. Wait, that's fine. It's even

01:28makes it with my point that even validates my point. Did you just say you're out on Javier's

01:33in Dallas and Monday night football for, so Sean can come, your neighbor can walk next

01:38door and watch a game? Well, I got him and my pops is coming over too. I already made

01:42some plans. I love Sean, but damn, he ain't holding up my Dallas plans. Damn sure Javier's

01:48involved. You're more than welcome to come Sean, but you ain't keeping my ass. Oh wow.

01:53Take your ass to sleep on that hot ass couch you slept on during that time. It wasn't no

01:59damn power. You're sleeping on there. But, um, I, but I, but it just brought me, I think

02:04happiness because I'll be honest with you. I don't, you know, I, I, many of you think

02:08that I, that I enjoy the, the pain of you. I don't. Hold on. So I like it to be happiness.

02:15And tomorrow we'll be out, uh, at, at, at Buffalo Wild Wings on a thirsty Thursday

02:20at Willowbrook Plaza. Come on out and hang out with us from two to six. And I want to

02:24see the happiness in people's eyes. I get the feel when we start talking about Texans,

02:28we might see some snarling anger from people that aren't over things. I want to see happiness.

02:34And now Clint, I think we're going to get it because right now you're at the low point,

02:39but nothing I think would dig Houston Texans fans out of a low point than beating the brakes

02:45off the Dallas Cowboys in Dallas. And that is what's going to happen. They're going,

02:52they're going to beat the brakes off of them. And I think it will completely uplift the

02:57city as negative as it is right now, as we got people trying to fire people and we got

03:02people trying to get rid of people and make moves and hand and anger when you beat Dallas,

03:08which this game to me, Clint feels like a 30 to seven type of a game. I don't think

03:13they're going to score touchdowns, a 30 to nine type of game. I think it's going to make

03:17everybody feel good. They're going to dominate the Cowboys because I think the Cowboys is

03:22the, this version of the Cowboys, Clint's the worst team they've played on their schedule.

03:27And that includes the new England Patriots. When I told you they were going to beat the

03:31brakes off the Patriots and some of y'all for some reason was nervous and they did,

03:36they beat the brakes off of Niko. I believe we'll be coming back. They'll have some reinforcements.

03:41They are going to murder this awful Dallas Cowboys team. What's your point? And it's

03:46going to make everybody feel good, Jerry. And I'm here for it. So the schedule makers

03:51made it at a perfect time to beat this low. Nothing is better than beating the hell out

03:55of the Cowboys for Houston, Texas, man. Thank you. That's well, that's well said there,

04:01Ron. I mean, there is, there is nothing that could bring you lose three or four. There's,

04:07there are, I'm just, I'm really, this is terrible to say, but I'm glad that the, the, the, a

04:12lot of the fan base, the coaching staff, the team, I'm glad they're more aware. It's at

04:16six and four of the problems that were very obvious at six and two. So we've made progress

04:21there, but there's nothing better than a quiet week where everybody's doubting you for the

04:28team to refocus and go work.

04:31Your ass off because you pay on Monday night, by the way. And then for the opponent to be

04:36the Dallas Cowboys, who I'll be honest with you, I think they should probably start Trey

04:40Lance, but I hope they don't for the Texans sake. Um, the Texans go beat the Dallas Cowboys.

04:49That scenario right there is, uh, I don't know. You could draw it up any better. I don't

04:57know that you could draw it up any better. There's something about if you were hitting

05:03on all cylinders and beating the hell out of people when the top AFC teams and the Cowboys

05:07were down and out that wind just wouldn't quite mean as much right now, both teams are

05:12in a spot where boy, you need, you need some improvement and you need it big time. You

05:17got all the, all the reason in the world to go put the blinders on and grind and shut

05:22out the noise and, and, and be really motivated with a sense of urgency all week to put your

05:27best product out there. And the Texans are the better football team. Clearly. I mean,

05:34there's no doubt about it. Even with their warts, they are a better football team. Honestly.

05:38And I do, I believe this version of the Cowboys is worse than any team they played like the

05:43Patriots. I was like, boy, they're starting a rookie quarterback. Obviously we've seen

05:47Drake may hell. We saw Drake may in the game. Yeah. Right. They like, this is, but this

05:51crew here, man, they can't stop the run. And I mean, at full strength, I mean, they

05:55can't, I mean, I feel like Joe Mixon is going to go nuts on this group. I mean, they got

06:00Micah Parsons and he's, he's an issue, but like their, their defense as a whole is worse

06:05than the Patriots, their quarterback situations for Cooper rush again, 48 yards last week.

06:12And this defense is better than the Eagles defense. Like this defense that calls Josh

06:17Allen to go nine for 30, whatever it was like, they're going, they're, they're going

06:21to smash them. We've got people like Larry up here. Larry's up here talking about, I'm

06:26not making a trip to Dallas. This is what we're talking about. Now we've got people,

06:29Larry, Larry going to go to camp, but he ain't going to drive up to Dallas to rub this in

06:33a face. Oh man. Larry going to be out there and act yak blasted drunk and feeling himself

06:39and happy again. It is from the text line. Why are, why are y'all such Debbie Downers?

06:44How the hell am I being a Debbie Downer? I said, they're going to go to the hell of

06:49them. He said, what? Who's down? The defense looks awesome. We're getting our awesome wide

06:53receiver back. We have a winning record. Everybody is a winning record. Now that you say that,

07:01I would say, I would say, Texter, it has not been, it has not been a very, a very positive

07:09feel from the fan base. I respect, I respect the fans that aren't prisoners of the moment,

07:18but the truth of the matter is you've lost three or four, uh, in that, in that three

07:22of four that you lost your, your quarterback has been the most pressured quarterback in

07:28the league for three of those four games on prime time. Yeah. Your second, your second

07:33half scoring is absolutely atrocious. And you know, you're, there's a lot of folks here

07:42and nationally that are, that are calling for the offensive coordinator's job. Um, I

07:47would say there's, there's a little something to sink.

07:51You TV, the NBA, all joking aside, I admire that the lens that you're watching it through.

07:58I would not, I would not say the negative talk at this point is Debbie Downer though.

08:20last week. No, we didn't. It didn't matter. Um, but I, but so anybody, I know you had,

08:24you had somebody, you didn't, you didn't blow him. No, but you, you sent one in, you didn't,

08:29you didn't blow it. So I believe you sent, you sent your mad dog player in. I think we

08:33should go ahead and count that against. No, we're not doing that. Oh, we're not doing

08:35that. It's unfair. We got a new, we're going to be drinking money. We're going to drink

08:38a man. I'm going to find a new flavor if I can.
