Life Ice Rink is back for Christmas 2024

The Centre for Life have officially opened their ice rink with the help of X-Factor winner Joe McElderry.

00:00We've been invited and we thought we'd come along to see the ice rink and

00:04then kind of like the beginning of the festive period.

00:08Yeah I think so, it's exciting. We have like a ban in the office, where we're not allowed to talk about Christmas.

00:14Yeah, can't take B words.

00:16This is quite controversial actually that we're here.

00:19But no, I'm excited.

00:21Apparently there's one of his legends on the ice, she's an expert.

00:26No I'm not.

00:29It's wonderful, I used to come here when I was a kid actually.

00:32And when I was at college, I went to college at Newcastle College.

00:35And we used to sneak on my lunch breaks to come for a ride on the ice rink.

00:38And you always knew it was Christmas time when this appeared.

00:41So it's been lovely to be asked to come down and open it for them.

00:44And it's brought back lots of lovely memories for me.

00:46We are at Life Science Centre at the grand opening of our ice rink for Christmas 2024.

00:52Yeah we've got all sorts of really exciting things on over Christmas.

00:55So in our making studios you can make and take away your own Christmas tree decorations, which is really lovely.

01:02We've got our Christmas show in our planetarium as well, What Santa Sees.

01:07It is a magical show about Santa's journey across the world on Christmas Eve.

01:13And what's happening up in the sky above him as he makes his way around the world.

01:18Which is just beautiful, I love it.

01:20And we had it out last year and it's making a return, bigger and better, for everybody to see this year.

01:26It's really exciting.

01:27We've also got some really exciting themed events as well.

01:30So for fans of Taylor Swift we've got Skated Off, pardon the pun.

01:35We've got Sand Fender Night as well, which is 17 going on skating.

01:39We've also got a Silent Disco on ice.

01:42We've got Relaxed Skating as well on the 24th of November.

01:46So really there's something for everyone.

01:48Whether you are a new skater, whether you're a seasoned skater, whether you're young, old.

01:53It's great just to spend Christmas and launch the festive offer right for the North East.
