00:21The Department of Education Cordillera continues to promote culture-based teaching and learning
00:27through Project Igabay or Indigenous Peoples Gallantry Assertiveness and Bravery Among Our
00:32Youth. Depedco Regional Director Estela Carino said the Igabay aims to instill among learners
00:38the importance of Cordillera culture for them not to forget their roots and to learn how to give
00:43importance to their identity. We have to preserve our culture. We have to do this
00:52otherwise time will come we have to go to Hawaii and search for who we are. So this is the purpose
01:02of this. The DepEdCAR was able to produce Igabay Resource Book Volume 1 containing the cultures
01:08and traditions that must be preserved. The book seeks to promote cultural sensitivity,
01:13respect to cultural diversity, and understanding of the cultural expressions of the indigenous
01:18peoples.
01:26The contents of the Igabay Resource Book were validated by IP leaders from concerned
01:48indigenous cultural communities. The formulation of Volumes 2 and 3 of the book is on the pipeline.
