00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. will not attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation

00:07or APEC Economic Leaders Week in Lima, Peru, according to Malacananga.

00:12Presidential Communications Office, or PCO, Secretary Cesar Chavez stated that the chief

00:18executive will not participate because he will prioritize some domestic concerns, including

00:24responding to the impact of the recent calamity.

00:28Instead, Department of Trade and Industry, or DTI, Acting Secretary Maria Cristina Roque,

00:35who was recently appointed a special envoy to the APEC Economic Leaders Week, will represent

00:41the Philippines.

00:43The meeting will be attended by leaders, ministers, and senior officials from the 21 APEC who

00:49will work to shape trade and globalization policies.

00:53APEC aims to provide a strategic vision and directives for regional cooperation in the

01:00coming years.
