Hi, and welcome back to another episode of The Land's Last Lob, where we take a look
00:09
at some of the stud stock sale results and trends across New South Wales.
00:12
I'm journalist Elke Demny.
00:14
And I'm livestock editor, Rebecca Naj.
00:16
Well, it's been a whirlwind sale season and several months on the road, but things are
00:21
finally winding up.
00:22
Yeah, it sure has, Bec.
00:24
Time certainly flies when you're having fun, but this episode, we've got something a little
00:27
bit different.
00:28
Can you tell us a bit more about it?
00:29
Yeah, that's right.
00:30
So we are looking for the top 10 most influential Angus studs.
00:34
There's obviously a lot of ways to rank sale results.
00:37
We're doing this by the number of bulls sold at auction.
00:41
And this also only includes New South Wales studs and New South Wales sales.
00:45
So kicking us off, in the top 10, we've got Gilman Dyke Angus.
00:49
The orange-based stud set an on-property record with a top of $100,000 to average 9,999 across
00:56
101 bulls.
00:58
Clockwork, Millamara Angus, delivered an incredibly strong result this season.
01:02
They sold all 123 bulls to a top of $140,000 to average $27,227.
01:09
Bec, you were at the stands for both of those sales.
01:12
What was the atmosphere like?
01:13
Really good.
01:14
Gilman Dyke came early in the season.
01:16
There was a big round of applause when the bull was knocked down for six figures.
01:20
And Millamara really is a league of its own.
01:22
That average was unsurpassed.
01:24
It's always an electric atmosphere at that sale, too.
01:27
In eighth, we have Ryland Angus, which cleared 165 bulls across four sales, reaching a top
01:33
price of $30,000 to average $8,552.
01:38
They were followed closely by Kulaks Bongongo Angus, which sold 168 bulls over two sales.
01:44
They hit a $22,000 top to average $10,824.
01:49
In sixth place, Clooney Angus cleared 187 bulls to $35,000 with a strong average of
01:56
$16,096.
01:58
Breaking into the top five, Bhingra-starred Booramooka Angus sold 239 bulls to a high
02:04
of $46,000 to average $12,686.
02:08
Also making waves up north was Texas Angus in Wariyalda.
02:12
They sold 272 bulls, achieving a top price of $100,000 to average $14,375.
02:20
And coming in third is Coomers Hazeldine Angus, which sold 285 bulls across two sales,
02:27
topping at $28,000 to average $11,982.
02:31
In second place is Danoon Angus, which had a record-breaking season.
02:36
They sold 286 bulls over two sales, hitting a top of $225,000 to average $14,431.
02:45
Finally, topping our list as the most influential Angus stud of the season is Renny Lee Angus.
02:51
They cleared an impressive 363 bulls across two sales, reaching a new stud record of $75,000
02:58
to average $14,264.
03:02
That really is such an impressive result.
03:04
An incredible season for Renny Lee and the entire top 10.
03:08
Worth noting too, Mill Willer sold 99 bulls to average $22,876.
03:15
And Victorian stud Tamania, it hasn't been included in this report, but their Walgett
03:19
sales sold 102 bulls to average $13,300.
03:24
That's all we have time for this week, but if you're eager to find out more of these
03:28
results and the full breakdown, it's all available via the Lance website.
03:31
And stay tuned for our next episodes, where we take a look at the other cattle breeds,
03:36
plus the meat and the bull shape.
03:38
And we'll see you next time.
