The Finance Minister has announced that the deadline to pay the Property Tax has been extended from the end of this month to a few days before Christmas Day next month.

And he says another local commerical bank is soon to join First Citizens Bank in allowing for the payment of the Property Tax online.

00:00In a post on the social media platform X on Saturday, Finance Minister Colm Imbert announced
00:05a new deadline for the payment of the property tax, which in the first instance applies to
00:11residential property owners.
00:13On September 23, the Finance Ministry announced that the deadline for the payment of property
00:18tax had been extended from September 30, 2024 to November 29, 2024.
00:24In his post on X on Saturday, November 2, Finance Minister Imbert announced a second
00:30extension of that original September 30 deadline.
00:34The Finance Minister announced that the deadline for the delivery by the BIR of Property Tax
00:41Notices to Owners has been extended to November 29, 2024, and the deadline for payment of
00:47property tax for 2024 extended to December 20, 2024.
00:54The Finance Minister also reposted a post from the Finance Ministry on X, which said
00:59the Board of Inland Revenue is pleased to advise the public that effective November
01:031, 2024, in addition to its San Fernando and Port of Spain regional offices, payments can
01:10now be made via links at the BIR's district revenue offices.
01:15The list of taxes that can be paid via links include the property tax.

01:32said he was pleased to report that First Citizens Bank will go live on that day, October 30,
01:39to provide an electronic banking facility to allow property owners to pay their property
01:44tax online in the same way they currently pay their utility bills.
01:49The Finance Minister said other commercial banks will follow with their e-banking platforms
01:53shortly and, in the near future, payment of taxes online by a credit card will be facilitated.
02:00On Saturday, Minister Inbritt announced on X that online payments via Republic Bank are
02:05planned to go live by next week Friday latest.
