‘Huggy bear’: If you can’t hug a person, this could be the next best thing

As a Chinese student living in the UK, Winnie misses her family. As an engineering solution, her instinct was to find an engineering answer, so she built soft toys to give her the hugs that her relatives cannot.   ‘Huggy bear’ will respond to touches with a gentle grip, but can get irritated if you hold on too long!  #China #toys #teddybear

00:15in Imperial College London. And the Hockey Bear is one of my year 2 projects, and it's

00:20finished by me and my friend Linda. It's a two people project. Both of us are international

00:26students, and there is a huge time difference between our family and us. And sometimes when

00:32we want to talk to someone, but there is actually no one to talk to. There are 8 different sensors

00:39inside the Hockey Bear, and it can give you 12 different reactions. And personally speaking

00:46my favourite reaction is the punching one. That is you squeeze a leg of it, and it will

00:55just punch you.
