00:00The Agriculture Department will hold the heads of the major retail markets in Metro Manila next week
00:08to discuss the possible profit-sharing of imported rice.
00:15According to Agriculture Secretary Francisco Laurel Jr.,
00:18the price of well-milled rice should not exceed P50 per kilo,
00:24especially if the price of imported rice has been reduced.
00:29A recent report from the Ministry of Agriculture
00:33shows that some retailers are selling their rice for P52 to P53 per kilo,
00:39even though, according to the importer, they are selling it at a wholesale price of P38 per kilo.
00:47Because of that, the price of rice should not exceed P45 per kilo.
00:54They are eager to know the roots of this so that the buyers can protect themselves from abuse.
01:03We will talk to them.
01:04We will tell them that if they want to profit,
01:10we will do that.
01:11Under Price Act or we will put a D1 next to their number.
