Thrill-seekers are invited to Lotherton to step into the pages of twisted fairy tales where ‘happily ever afters’ don’t exist - the event runs between 25th-31st October.

00:00Welcome, everyone, to chapter one of Once Upon a Nightmare.

00:04I am your fairy godmother, but beware,

00:07this realm has been ensnared by twists unknown and fates darkened.

00:13Here, fairy tales you once cherished have been changed

00:17by the darkness that seeps within their fairy tale cracks.

00:21My name's Jason Turber, I am the Breeze team manager,

00:24and we produce and curate the Halloween event here at Lotherton Hall.

00:29You will find here tonight an immersive theatre experience

00:34really around the twisted nightmare fairy tales

00:38that will be throughout the estate,

00:41starting in the back car park and running all the way through.

00:45You'll see a number of actors that will be in character

00:49from Rumpelstiltskin, the Wicked Witch, Hansel and Gretel.

00:54Welcome to my kingdom.

00:57I hope you're going to be brave enough to venture to come and see me.

01:01The more the merrier, I say.

01:04Come and enjoy my cursed kingdom.

01:19Our target audience is really sort of that 8 to 15 market,

01:23so maybe your first family scare that's maybe not wanting to,

01:27you know, maybe the kids are too old for trick-or-treating,

01:30but maybe not old enough to go and be scared with chainsaws.

01:33Just walking through the woods here in the dark on a night

01:36is pretty scary on its own, really,

01:38to then adding some characters and some eerie sounds

01:42and also the sort of fog and the smoke,

01:45and it's a really immersive experience for families.

01:48Just follow the elaborate road back to where you belong,

01:51but be careful.

01:53Home may be waiting,

01:55or maybe...

01:57it's not.
