Robyn Hewson speaks to winners from this year's Insider North West Dealmakers Awards 2024, which took place at Manchester Central on Thu 17 October.

00:18No is the short answer, I think we've been shortlisted for the past six or seven years,

00:24so really good to win after a stiff competition.

00:27Absolutely delighted.

00:28Yeah.

00:32It was interesting, the judges commented on the impact fund, definitely, because that's

00:35the differentiators in the region.

00:37So, you know, as a lender they set up in Manchester nine years ago, you know, based competition

00:44out of play and yeah, I think that's been the differentiator, I think.

00:54It's been loads of hard work to be honest, I think it's been a gritty 18 months M&A,

00:58but pleased to come out of it with some good results.

01:01Yeah, the team's been fantastically energised this year, you know, we've got on, just got

01:04things done.

01:05I think definitely, I think we're natural optimists in corporate finance, but I think

01:09there's definitely signs that things are getting better and I think the results are showing

01:12that.

01:13Yeah, it'll be a great year again.

01:17You can never get expensive, can you?

01:18You never know the potentials of what people are up against in big firms and usually we

01:27find in this category, the big firms tend to carry it.

01:30So, bit shocked.

01:33I think it's the fact that we're a big success story in the North West and it's amazing to

01:39see that, you know, the deal makers actually celebrate the local stories, the local success

01:43story.

01:44It's brilliant.

01:45It's exciting for North West entrepreneurs, isn't it, to get better and frankly, you're

01:53national.

02:02I'm the chief co-producer.

02:03Well, I would say the team, absolutely, but I think having a vision and sticking to it

02:10and damn hard work.

02:12Absolutely.

02:13I think I would add something like, it's just been true, I know it sounds cheesy, but a

02:20sense of values to people, clients, which is really very real.

02:25It's a lot that she's done.

02:27She's led us continuously to stick by what we stand for, which is, I know it's cheesy,

02:33but that's where it is.

02:35Well, we are launching Birmingham in January.

02:37So, we have a new transaction services team in Birmingham.

02:41We are extending the service lines.

02:43We expect to put 10 to 15 on headcount in the next couple of months.

02:51It's going to be busy and we will see what the Chancellor says and that will determine

02:56how the next few months will go.

03:00I didn't expect to win at all, actually, no.

03:02I mean, we've had a great year.

03:04I think the business has thoroughly deserved what it's won so far, but I didn't expect

03:08I would.

03:09I think the business is performing incredibly well.

03:11We've got a fantastic team.

03:13The market's good.

03:15I think we're going to have another great year.

03:17I think the thing that I really enjoy about our business and where we are is the kind

03:21of community we work in.

03:23I was commenting before about what a great audience you've got out there.

03:27Brilliant to see 1,200 people from the North West collectively celebrating the deals market.

03:32Inside, we've done a fantastic job of pulling that group of people together.

03:35So, I think you guys should be proud of that.

03:37The reality is private equity is a fantastic market in the North West.

03:41So, my expectation is we're just going to see more and more of those deals.

03:44They've been quiet over the last 12 months, but I think they'll be back.
