Halle Berry had difficulty convincing men in Silicon Valley that "menopause was a real thing"

“I’m in menopause,” Berry declared during a live interview at Fortune's Most Powerful Women Summit. “How liberating is that?”

00:00You know, we're venture-backed, but when I was out trying to raise money, it was really hard.

00:04You know, I went, you know, to Silicon Valley, and I was trying to raise money,

00:07and it was really hard to get people, largely men, at some of these big, you know,

00:14venture capital companies to believe that, like I just said, that menopause was a real thing,

00:19and that menopause deserved a company that was built in the framework of what our company is,

00:25that was, while it's very holistic in nature, right, it was very hard for them to

00:32see the there there, is the way I put it, for the reason for this company to be.

00:38So that was probably one of my biggest barriers, was getting really

00:42people to believe that this was a worthwhile venture, especially with what our approach was.
