00:30What you're going to hear is a very scary story.
00:49I don't expect you to believe it.
00:51I wouldn't have.
00:53It happened in this house, which is where I live, with a family called the Monroe's.
00:59It's kind of a nice place to live, and, well, oh, I guess I ought to introduce myself.
01:04The name's Harold.
01:05That's me there, trying to get some sleep.
01:08And that's Chester, doing what Chester's usually doing, reading a book.
01:12Mr. Monroe, that's him on the left, is a scientist.
01:16Mrs. Monroe takes care of Toby, Pete, and Chester, and me, but on the day all this started,
01:22she was more worried about her husband.
01:24It's all those accidents they've been having at the plant.
01:27So many mysterious things have been happening there.
01:34A lot of folks around here even think the plant is haunted.
01:38Haunted?
01:39Well, now, I never believed in ghosts myself.
01:44Still, here at the World Co. food processing plant, something was very wrong.
01:50We're going to have to work on that freeze-dried vegetable program.
01:54Monroe checked with research about the latest developments they had.
01:59Look out!
02:02This accident was too close, Monroe.
02:07The boss was determined that this, the ninth accident, would be the last.
02:12He decided to close the plant.
02:14But you can't, Mr. Newton.
02:16Everyone in this town depends on this plant for their income.
02:20Without jobs, they'll just...
02:22That support rope was chewed through, Monroe.
02:24Now, I don't know if it's ghosts or what's causing these accidents,
02:28but as of now, the World Co. food processing plant is closed.
02:39When we got there to drive Mr. Monroe home,
02:42all the plant workers were going home for keeps.
02:46Without that plant functioning, it's the end of this town.
02:49Hey, Mom, Pop, look what we found.
02:55Toby and Pete had found a shoebox in some tall weeds.
02:59And in it was a rabbit.
03:01Just a cute, fuzzy little bunny rabbit.
03:04Fast asleep.
03:06Oh, isn't he cute?
03:08Kitty, kitty, kitty, little bunny.
03:10Hey, there's a note in here.
03:12It's written in some sort of foreign language.
03:15Look, I'll bet you that's the bunny's name.
03:18Dracula. You know, like Dracula.
03:22I want to suck your blood.
03:24Well, maybe they couldn't read the note, but I could.
03:27There's a lot of Russian wool found in my veins.
03:30It said, take good care of my baby.
03:33Can we take him home and feed him, Dad?
03:35I don't know if we'll even be able to feed ourselves with the plant closing,
03:38but I suppose so.
03:43There was a full moon that night.
03:45The little rabbit slept all the way to the store
03:48when Mrs. Monroe selected some vegetables for it.
03:51Is the rabbit still asleep?
03:53He's not asleep. He's gone.
03:56Hey, Mom, the rabbit got away.
03:59A rabbit? Loose in my store?
04:02Hurry, catch him.
04:04Don't worry. Harold will catch him.
04:06Come on, we'll look up this aisle.
04:09We looked all over for that little rabbit
04:11until I found him atop a bin of tomatoes.
04:15At least I thought I did.
04:20How he got over there, I'll never know.
04:23But good tracker that I am, I went after him.
04:26Hey, dog, get off those pumpkins.
04:29They're not safe.
04:31That's the trouble with humans.
04:33They always tell you things too late.
04:37Harold.
04:41They're coming this way.
04:43Don't announce it. Run.
04:47Look what you kids have done.
04:49That dog of yours, I'll...
04:56I really needed this tonight, too.
05:01Look, Harold found vernicula.
05:03Good boy. Are you okay, little bunny?
05:06Let's get him home. He looks scared.
05:09I just hope the man isn't too angry
05:11about what we did to his store.
05:17Mr. Monroe had to pay for 51 pumpkins,
05:20which didn't please him a whole lot.
05:22I'm so glad to see customers leave in my whole life.
05:25Sir, I just came across some of these in the bins.
05:28I never saw a white tomato before.
05:31Neither have I.
05:33It's like all the juice was just drained out of it.
05:35I wonder what could have caused this.
05:41We didn't know about the tomatoes then.
05:43When we got home,
05:45there were more important matters to discuss.
05:48I'm keeping the bunny in my room.
05:50I found vernicula.
05:52He sleeps in my room.
05:54You can keep smelly old Harold in your room.
05:56At least I don't wear the same socks
05:58for three days in a row.
06:00We'll keep the rabbit in here.
06:02That way, neither of you will have it in your rooms.
06:04We'll leave vernicula on this table.
06:07Hey.
06:09Vernicula.
06:11It sounds like Dracula.
06:13Tell me again about the note.
06:15Tell me again.
06:17We found it with the rabbit.
06:19It was in Romanian, and it said...
06:21Romanian.
06:23Romania is where Transylvania is,
06:25and Transylvania is where Dracula is from.
06:28It's all in this book I read.
06:30Oh, come on, Chester.
06:32He couldn't have anything to do with Dracula.
06:34Besides, Dracula was a vampire.
06:36Uh-huh.
06:38There is dirt in the bottom of that box.
06:40And I read that vampires
06:42always line their coffins
06:44with dirt from their home country.
06:46I read books. I know. I know.
06:48Let's go to sleep.
06:50Chester.
06:52Coming. Coming.
07:02I slept soundly all night.
07:04Chester didn't.
07:06In fact, you have no idea
07:08what he tried to get me to believe
07:10the next morning.
07:12I saw him, Harold.
07:14He rose out of the shoebox
07:16and snuck into the kitchen.
07:18The rabbit snuck into the kitchen?
07:20And I heard the refrigerator door
07:22open and close. I did. I did.
07:24You must have seen Mr. Monroe
07:26sneaking a midnight snack.
07:28Not unless he wears bunny pajamas
07:30and gets very tiny at night.
07:33Come in here.
07:37I found this in the refrigerator.
07:39It's a tomato.
07:41But it's all white.
07:43And there's no juice left in it.
07:45No juice in it?
07:47Like someone went into the refrigerator
07:49last night and sucked it all out
07:51like a vampire.
07:53There are no such things as vampires.
07:55Especially vampire rabbits.
07:57Are you sure?
07:59Gee,
08:01I hope so.
08:07In the days that followed,
08:09more and more white tomatoes
08:11turned up.
08:13And it wasn't just tomatoes either.
08:15There were white carrots
08:17and white lettuce and cucumbers too.
08:19All drained
08:21of every drop of juice.
08:23After a few days,
08:25they started turning up
08:27all over the block.
08:29Meanwhile, Chester
08:31got more and more suspicious.
08:33Hold still. Hold still.
08:35I know the book I want
08:37is up here.
08:39I examined one of the white tomatoes
08:41and I found teeth marks
08:43on the skin.
08:45One large tooth. Perhaps
08:47like a rabbit's buck teeth.
08:49Your tail's in my nose.
08:51I've got a...
08:53a tooth.
08:59Don't worry, Harold.
09:01I'm okay. And I found
09:03the book I wanted. Thrilling.
09:05Oof. Wait, Harold.
09:07Wait. This book tells all
09:09about vampires.
09:11I don't want to hear any more about vampires.
09:17Everyone is upset about the plant closing.
09:19Some of them think it was haunted
09:21by some sort of demon.
09:23Hank, down the street, claims he saw a wolf
09:25stalking through the plant.
09:27Now they're upset about white tomatoes.
09:29Folks are talking about moving away.
09:31Like this whole town is haunted.
09:35Around ten that evening,
09:37we all turned in. All except Chester,
09:39that is. Night, Harold.
09:45Psst. Harold.
09:47Come here.
09:49Oof.
09:55The rabbit sleeps
09:57all day. So do you.
09:59So do I.
10:01And he has long pointed teeth
10:03like a vampire has.
10:05So do you. And so do I.
10:09But the note written in Romanian.
10:11The stalking at night to appease his thirst.
10:13The dirt in the shoebox.
10:15The stories of demons at the plant
10:17where he was found.
10:19That is a vampire rabbit.
10:21Okay. I'll prove to you how silly that is.
10:23Tonight, we'll keep an eye on him.
10:25We'll stay awake in shifts
10:27and see if he leaves that box.
10:31He's a vampire, like Dracula.
10:33Welcome to my laboratory.
10:39The vampire turns into a bat
10:41and stalks his prey.
10:43Then when he sights it, he attacks.
10:47Meow.
10:51I haven't got enough problems
10:53with the plant closing and all the weird
10:55vegetables. Now I've got a
10:57crazy cat on my hands.
11:05It was two hours past
11:07my bedtime, but there I was
11:09standing guard on a sleeping
11:11rabbit. Okay.
11:13Your turn to sleep. My turn
11:15to watch.
11:17What's that I smell?
11:19It smells like
11:21garlic. It is garlic.
11:23It says in that book I read that
11:25garlic keeps vampires away.
11:27You keep that stuff on and you'll
11:29keep everyone away.
11:31Wake me in three hours.
11:35While I was dozing, Chester got
11:37a bit too engrossed in his reading.
11:45Humming.
11:51Harold.
11:53Harold, he's gone.
11:55Harold, wake up. He's gone.
11:57The bunny is gone right under our noses.
11:59Wake up. Wake up.
12:03Come on. He must have gone out
12:05this way. We've got to pick up his trail.
12:11I was so busy sniffing,
12:13I didn't notice a wire strung
12:15across the yard. Unfortunately,
12:17Chester found it, or
12:19rather his tail did.
12:25I told you, Alice. I
12:27told you those booby traps I set
12:29would catch the poacher in the garden.
12:31And you'll wake up the whole neighborhood.
12:33Now we'll find who's
12:35been turning our vegetables white.
12:39Within minutes, practically the
12:41whole neighborhood was out there.
12:43This tomato has
12:45turned white, and there are rabbit tracks
12:47around it. The only rabbit in town
12:49is the one at the Monroe's.
12:51Yeah. Benicula.
12:53The one whose name sounds like Dracula.
12:55Dracula?
12:57Dracula. Hey.
12:59It makes sense. Those
13:01tomatoes were drained of juice
13:03like Dracula drains a victim.
13:05Hey, wait. Listen. Dracula
13:07can turn himself into a bat, right?
13:10Maybe he can turn himself into any sort
13:12of rodent. Everyone, everyone,
13:14remember that wolf I
13:16said I saw at the plant before they closed it?
13:18Well, Dracula can turn himself
13:20into a wolf, right? That rabbit
13:22at the Monroe's has something to
13:24do with this. Well, what are we
13:26waiting for? Let's get
13:28that vampire rabbit. We'll
13:30make them hand it over.
13:32The neighbors
13:34all thought
13:36little Benicula was the cause of the
13:38white vegetables, and the cause of
13:40the accidents that closed the plant.
13:42We got there seconds before the mob.
13:44Benicula was asleep in his
13:46shoebox, as if he'd never
13:48left. What do we do?
13:50Monroe, open up.
13:52It's Hank from down the street.
13:54Open the door.
13:56We get Benicula out of here.
13:58That's what we do.
14:00That rabbit of yours is a vampire.
14:02He's been turning all our vegetables
14:04white. And he caused all those
14:06disasters at the food processing plant.
14:08Yeah. Hank,
14:10what would you do if someone
14:12woke you up at one in the morning to
14:14tell you there was a vampire
14:16rabbit in your house?
14:18Well, I guess
14:20I'd think they went bananas.
14:22Bingo.
14:24Hey, there's the rabbit.
14:26The dog in Cat Heaven.
14:28After them.
14:30Wait till we get our hands on that rabbit.
14:32Either I'm having a terrible
14:34nightmare, or there's an angry mob
14:36out there stalking a vampire rabbit.
14:38The area around our neighborhood
14:40is surrounded by dense, thick
14:42forest, which is where we fled
14:44with Benicula. We figured that mob
14:46wouldn't follow us in here.
14:48They went this way with the rabbit.
14:50Come on.
14:52We were wrong.
14:58They went
15:00this way,
15:02across the stream.
15:04Come on.
15:06I sure wish
15:08I could sleep like that.
15:14Quick, into this old drainpipe.
15:16Well, the least you could do is wake up.
15:18It's your life we're trying to save.
15:20Our only hope is to head deeper
15:22into this pipe and see if there's
15:24another way out.
15:26Neither of us like the idea
15:28of crawling through this dark, smelly
15:30pipeline.
15:32Well, look who's awake.
15:34At last.
15:36Don't fret, little fella.
15:38You're going to be all right.
15:40I figured we'd all be all right.
15:42What I didn't figure on was where that drainpipe
15:44was going to lead.
15:46This must be the basement of the food
15:48processing plant.
15:50We're going to have to find a way
15:52to get out of here.
15:54We're going to have to find a way
15:56to get out of here.
15:58We're going to have to find a way
16:00to get out of here.
16:02We're going to have to find a way
16:04to get out of here.
16:06We're going to have to find a way
16:08to get out of here.
16:10We're going to have to find a way
16:12to get out of here.
16:14We're going to have to find a way
16:16to get out of here.
16:18We're going to have to find a way
16:20to get out of here.
16:22We're going to have to find a way
16:24to get out of here.
16:26We're going to have to find a way
16:28to get out of here.
16:30We're going to have to find a way
16:32to get out of here.
16:34We're going to have to find a way
16:36to get out of here.
16:38We're going to have to find a way
16:40to get out of here.
16:42We're going to have to find a way
16:44to get out of here.
16:46We're going to have to find a way
16:48to get out of here.
16:50We're going to have to find a way
16:52to get out of here.
16:54We're going to have to find a way
16:56to get out of here.
16:58We're going to have to find a way
17:00to get out of here.
17:02We're going to have to find a way
17:04to get out of here.
17:06We're going to have to find a way
17:08to get out of here.
17:10We're going to have to find a way
17:12to get out of here.
17:14We're going to have to find a way
17:16to get out of here.
17:18We're going to have to find a way
17:20to get out of here.
17:22We're going to have to find a way
17:24to get out of here.
17:34This is no time to get talkative.
17:50Nice work, nice work.
17:53Hey, cat.
18:01The wolves are coming.
18:03Quick, into that closet.
18:10Where's the rabbit?
18:12I thought you had him.
18:15The Nikila's out there.
18:17With the wolves.
18:19One little rabbit against three
18:21starving hungry wolves.
18:23Hardly seems fair.
18:25We were locked in the closet
18:27and I still have no idea
18:29what went on outside that door.
18:51No!
19:12Poor little bunny
19:14and to think I thought he was a vampire.
19:18Chester, listen.
19:20There must be an alarm.
19:22Someone, I don't know who
19:24had unlocked that door.
19:26When we looked out
19:28all three wolves were trapped
19:30in a vat with a lid on it
19:32and as for Bernikula
19:34he was right where we left him.
19:36What happened out here?
19:38There's a perfectly logical
19:40explanation for this
19:42and I wish I knew what it was.
19:44The alarm
19:46brought the police.
19:48They took the wolves to a zoo
19:50and took us to the police station.
19:52It was morning before we
19:54finally got home.
19:56The wolves will be well fed
19:58at the zoo. Apparently they were
20:00sneaking into the plant at night in search
20:02of food. Then the wolves chewed through
20:04the rope and caused the other accidents.
20:06Does that mean they're gonna reopen
20:08the plant, Dad?
20:10They sure are. Everyone
20:12goes back to work Monday morning.
20:14Our town is saved.
20:16None of this explains
20:18the white tomatoes.
20:20No, but I think I know what does.
20:22This bag has been
20:24sitting here for almost two weeks.
20:26It's a head of lettuce
20:28but it's all moldy and wilted.
20:30Those are the vegetables we bought
20:32the night we found Bernikula.
20:34That's right. And since that night
20:36has either of you bothered to feed Bernikula?
20:38I thought you were gonna feed him.
20:40Why should I feed him? You found him.
20:42You were both responsible.
20:44If you're going to have pets
20:46you have to take care of them.
20:48The poor bunny was probably so
20:50hungry he left his box
20:52in search of vegetable juices for nourishment.
20:54But why just the juice?
20:56Because he's just a baby.
20:58Well, that explains
21:00the white tomatoes. They'll feed him regularly
21:02so he won't have to go roaming at night.
21:06He looks so cute there.
21:08Imagine!
21:10I actually thought this was a vampire.
21:12You and the neighbors
21:14all got carried away.
21:16Vampire rabbits!
21:18Ridiculous!
21:22Yeah! Ridiculous!
21:38Yeah!
21:48Yeah!
21:54Yeah!
22:02Yeah!
22:08Yeah!
22:14Yeah!
22:20Yeah!
22:24Yeah!
22:26Yeah!
22:28Yeah!
