00:00Edmund Brown, Developments in York, Colleen Rooney and Applied Nutrition and the

00:06Dealmakers Awards. That's what's coming up in today's Daily Business Briefing.

00:15Hi I'm Simon Keegan. And I'm Robin Hewson. Hi there Robin. Hello. So I like to say

00:23that as if we haven't just been sitting together all day. Keep up the illusion.

00:26Exactly. So I believe you've got a North West story for us first of all. Yeah we

00:30do. So it's about M Brown. Family has agreed to a £191 million pound

00:35take private deal for M Brown which is a really famous Manchester company.

00:40Employs about 1,700 people. So that's simply be Giacomo. Exactly. A lot of like

00:46well-known brands. Yeah. So it's set to be taken private after this deal was

00:50agreed with a shareholder Joshua Alliance. So his family is already owning

00:55a controlling stake of the business and that includes Lord David Alliance who's

00:58the former executive chairman. And Alliance Business School fame. Exactly.

01:02So kind of again iconic Manchester name I guess. Definitely. Yeah. So after

01:07graduating from Manchester Uni in 2011 Joshua joined M Brown in 2014 and then

01:12became part of the board in 2020. So this next step is sort of taking over. So

01:18terms have been agreed for a recommended cash acquisition by Joshua's newly

01:22formed company Falcon 24 Bidco. Well from something going private to something

01:27going public. Applied Nutrition's IPO. Very interesting potential investor

01:34Colleen Rooney. Obviously the wife of Wayne Rooney and I think it's fair to say

01:40a Liverpool icon looking at investing in another Liverpool icon. Obviously Applied

01:45Nutrition founded by Thomas Ryder in Liverpool. The company is looking to flow

01:52with a 400 million pound valuation. So some of the investors in that business

01:58as well already. Business figures really well known to our Northwest readers.

02:03There's the likes of Andy Bell from AJ Bell. There's also Peter Cowgill from JD

02:10Sports and obviously of Cowgills. And Mohsin Issa from the EG group as well

02:15who I was sitting next to at our Made in the Northwest Awards. Really really nice

02:19guy. And the advisors that are working on the float as well. Roger Hart who we

02:25know very well at Adelshaws and also Pinsent Masons. Now talking of deals. We

02:33were at the Dealmakers Awards last night. Dealmakers is always a fantastic

02:38event. I think there was some surprise winners this year. I think it's fair to

02:45say. You did some video interviews last night as well. Yeah absolutely so we

02:49grabbed a few of the winners for a quick chat on kind of their thoughts on

02:52the market and how they feel about winning and things like that. So yeah

02:55you'll be able to see those soon. Fantastic and you can read about it in

02:58the December issue of Insider as well. So I feel like the Northwest is hogging all

03:03of this and we better go to one of the other regions. So as Miss Yorkshire is

03:09here. What news have you got from us from your home county? Yeah sorry from my

03:13homeland today. So there's been a major York Riverside development recommended

03:18for approval. So plans to regenerate a key site in York include new retail,

03:22leisure, commercial and resi as well. So that's gonna be a really exciting scheme

03:27by Helmsley Group. So they'd lodged schemes, lodged plans originally back in

03:322022 but they've now revised the schemes and it now includes new things like

03:37250,000 square foot of mixed-use space, Riverside walkway and they're also

03:42regenerating a lot of the sort of old lanes in York which are obviously really

03:46iconic. So you've got to be, you must have to be careful about how you do that

03:50when it's so historic. I mean a lot of the buildings in this conservation

03:55area that they're redeveloping are listed. So yeah it'll be a very sensitive

03:58restoration I think. But the whole scheme itself could generate up to 175 million

04:03pounds of economic benefit for York. So a really really big scheme. Amazing and I

04:08know that our Yorkshire team are going to be following up on that and the

04:12obviously the spin-out benefits of it. Yeah. Well I think that's just about all we've
