Google announced a new power purchase agreement with small modular reactor developer Kairos Power, marking a shift toward nuclear energy to meet the rising power needs of data centers. Google's senior director for energy and climate, Michael Terrell, emphasized the importance of nuclear energy in supporting the company's AI-driven growth and overall clean energy goals. Kairos Power is backed by the Department of Energy and is constructing its Hermes Low-Power Demonstration Reactor in Tennessee.
