Bramley Baths to mark 120th anniversary

Bramley Baths is celebrating 120 years of serving the community and its position as Leeds’s only Edwardian bathhouse and a thriving community hub.

00:12There'll be two special events, the first being on Thursday 17th October at 3pm, when

00:18the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Abigail Marshall-Catong, will be attending a ceremony

00:22at exactly the same time that the baths were opened by the then Lord Mayor of Leeds, Arthur

00:28Curragh Briggs, in 1904. A public event will be held on Saturday 19th October in the form

00:34of an Edwardian circus-themed birthday party which is open to all.

00:39Since day one, Bramley Baths has served local needs and adapted through the decades as society

00:44has changed. Through wars, pandemics and economic depressions, the baths have been at the heart

00:49of the community, evolving with the City of Leeds. In recognition of its social, historical

00:54and cultural significance, the baths were awarded a blue plaque in 2023.
