00:00Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. This Tuesday
00:04evening a lot of weather to contend with and there are warnings in force and
00:09further warnings have been issued by the Met Office for the next few days. We
00:12have a snow and ice warning into Wednesday across western and northern
00:16parts of Scotland. The air is turning much colder from the north, notice those
00:20blues extending down towards the Midlands as well as Wales. Further south
00:24though the air remains relatively mild and as this rain returns on Thursday
00:29encounters the cold air we'll see that rain turn to snow. So snow across
00:33Northern Ireland, Northern England, the Midlands as well as Wales and here are
00:37the snow accumulations likely over 12 hours or so, so higher ground mostly
00:43impacted. However through this evening, that's Tuesday evening, watch out for
00:47some heavy pulses of rain across the Midlands, East Anglia, southern parts of
00:50Wales, central southern England and the winds will be strong so you could find
00:54some problems on the roads with lots of surface water. At the same time snow
00:58showers are sliding down Scotland towards the central belt through the
01:02early hours of the morning, so above the I would say 400 metres, 8 centimetres of
01:07snow, even at lower levels you're likely to see a covering for a time and also
01:12watch out for ice with slippery surfaces. These snow showers extend towards
01:16southern parts of Scotland through the first part of the day during rush hour
01:19so again it's a bit of a tricky start to the day Wednesday morning, one or two
01:23clipping Northern Ireland. Elsewhere hazy sunshine across England and Wales, a
01:27cold morning with a frost in the north and further snow showers likely across
01:32more northern and western parts through the day. Now across the far south of
01:35England more clouds and also some patty rain just coming and going, some drier
01:40skies here, 9 degrees Celsius but much colder across the rest of the country,
01:45three or four across Scotland but you'll see some sunshine away from those
01:49wintry showers. Now through Wednesday evening and overnight again the air
01:55turns a lot colder with a widespread frost extending towards Northern Ireland
01:59as well as Northern England. Even further south the air is cold as this rain
02:03returns to the southwest of England as well as Wales pushing ever northwards
02:07through the early hours of the morning and that's when we'll run into problems.
02:12Before that though you can see temperatures will be sub-zero, watch out
02:15for ice and those wintry showers towards the north, outbreaks of rain to start the
02:19day and some strong winds on Thursday across southern parts of England and
02:23Wales. Now these snow warnings kick in at 6 a.m. as this rain slowly pushes
02:29towards the Midlands northern parts of Wales then Pennine districts through the
02:33morning. You can see that rain turning to snow especially over the high ground but
02:36even at lower levels there is a chance we could see some disruption and
02:40eventually this rain pushes towards more northern areas again in the form of snow
02:46across some parts of Northern England as well as Northern Ireland later on. Behind
02:51it we'll see some heavy showers, Scotland seeing some fine weather, some sunshine,
02:54a cold wind and a scattering of wintry showers. So that's a picture on Thursday
03:00if you are traveling please stay tuned to the forecast obviously we'll keep you
03:04posted here on all our social media channels and you take care. I'll see you soon.
