29 May- National weather forecast presented by Honor Criswick
Transcript
00:00Hello there, good morning. Good news for the gardeners as we're set to see a return of
00:04some rain today. In fact, many of us will be waking up to quite a wet start, particularly
00:09across Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland, northern parts of England. Some quite heavy
00:12outbreaks of rain at times through the day, particularly across Scotland and northern
00:16parts of England. But across central areas and parts of the south, it's going to be fairly
00:20cloudy, but any rain likely to be fairly light and drizzly, but plenty of low cloud leading
00:25to some quite murky conditions at times. It might brighten up a little bit across parts
00:30of the southeast, and that's where we're going to see the best of the temperatures. Highs
00:34reaching around 22 to 23 degrees Celsius here, but even across the north, it's not going to
00:39be particularly chilly, but obviously not feeling quite as pleasant with all the cloud and rain.
00:44Then through the course of this evening, through overnight, we are still going to continue to
00:49see some rain, not quite as much heavy rain. We've got this band slipping its way southwards,
00:53moving into northern parts of England, northern parts of Wales. Quite cloudy and murky here by
00:58the time we reach the morning, still with some drizzly outbreaks and plenty of showers moving
01:02their way into parts of Scotland. These could also turn quite heavy at times as we reach towards
01:06dawn. But across central and southern parts, remaining mostly dry, there's still a return
01:11of that low cloud. Some quite murky and misty, foggy conditions by the time we reach the early
01:16hours of Friday. And we can see from these temperatures as well, it's likely to be quite a warm night
01:20for some areas. Many towns and cities not even dropping below 14 to 15 degrees Celsius. So it's
01:25set to be quite a muggy start to the day. Still, once again, plenty of low cloud, eventually clearing
01:32through the morning. We still have this drizzly band here drifting its way southwards, eventually
01:37easing away as it does so. Once again, bringing in some quite cloudy skies. And still plenty of showers
01:43drifting their way eastwards across Scotland, perhaps northern parts of England. The odd one or two could be
01:48heavy. And it is still going to be feeling particularly warm across the southeast. Still
01:52that muggy feel in the air. Highs reaching around 15 degrees. But across northern Ireland,
01:57parts of Scotland, mid-teens, low 20s. So still, once again, not particularly cold. So it's not
02:03going to be a total washout on Friday. There are going to be some drier and brighter spells. But how
02:07about as we head into the weekend? Well, eventually we'll say goodbye to that cold front drifting its way
02:12southwards on Friday. And then it's all eyes to the northwest. Another area of low pressure dragging
02:17in further frontal systems and also potentially some quite blustery weather as we head to the
02:22beginning of the weekend. But for more information on that, don't forget you can subscribe to our
