00:00Hello. Welcome to your weather for the week ahead from the Met Office.
00:03Two very different sides of autumn on show this week.
00:06We're going to start with crisp chilly mornings and a bit of fog,
00:10but also plenty of sunshine.
00:12However, slowly but surely,
00:15the weather patterns will be changing.
00:17And so by the end of the week,
00:18well, it won't be as cold, particularly at nights,
00:20but it will also be a lot cloudier and also a lot wetter.
00:24So we're starting the week dry and fine,
00:27thanks to high pressure,
00:28although there are weather fronts in the far.
00:29Southwest and they tend to take over the isobar,
00:32squidge together, telling us at times it will be windy.
00:35And these weather fronts will be providing bands of rain from Thursday onwards.
00:40Let's take a look day by day, though, focusing on Tuesday.
00:43First of all, a cold frosty start for many,
00:46but that weather front in the southwest still providing some outbreaks of rain
00:49and not completely dry across the east, a sprinkling of showers.
00:53But for many, it is a fine day on Tuesday after a frosty start,
00:57certainly from the Midlands, northwards and rural areas.
00:59By the afternoon, temperatures perhaps just a touch higher than Monday's values,
01:03more widely into double digits,
01:05still generally around or below average for the time of year.
01:08And the winds, again, a big feature in the far southwest.
01:12That wet and windy weather coming from this weather front,
01:15which bumps up against the area of high pressure during Tuesday and into Wednesday.
01:19And it's given another little push later on by another weather front.
01:22So again, we'll see quite a bit of cloud in the southwest,
01:25southwest England, south Wales and a bit more rain just slowly edging northwards.
01:30There's that second push of heavier rain coming in perhaps later in the day.
01:35Again, though, for much of the Midlands, eastern England,
01:38northern Ireland, a good part of Scotland by the odd shower.
01:40It's generally dry and bright with some sunshine around after a frosty start.
01:45Temperatures, again, just about struggling up to double digits.
01:48Milder air arriving in the southwest.
01:50But of course, there will be cloud and rain here once more.
01:53That's from this area of low pressure,
01:54which continues to edge its way in during Wednesday and into Thursday.
01:59Now, there's nothing really giving that area of low pressure much of a kick.
02:02So these weather fronts don't look as if they're going to provide significant heavy rain.
02:07But of course, because it has been quite wet recently, any rain won't be too welcome.
02:12And these bands of rain will slowly edge their way northwards.
02:15Still some fine weather, perhaps across the far northeast.
02:17But overall, for many places, Thursday is a lot cloudier.
02:20And even as the rain clears, it'll turn quite misty and murky.
02:24But it will be warmer with temperatures up to 14 or 15 degrees Celsius.
02:28Now, a bit of uncertainty about the exact progress of these low pressure systems
02:32come the end of the week.
02:33But it looks like we'll see one moving through the country during Thursday and into Friday
02:37and then another one perhaps arriving as we go into the weekend.
02:41Both will provide some outbreaks of rain.
02:43And at times, with those isobars getting closer together, it looks fairly blustery.
02:48So the end of the week will be very different to the start of the week.
02:50Spells of rain swinging across the country.
02:52Of course, there will be dry and brighter periods in between.
02:55But strong winds are possible.
02:57We'll keep a close eye on that as those low pressure systems arrive.
03:00But it won't be as cold, particularly at night and first thing in the morning.
03:05For details as we go through the week, make sure you stay up to date with the very latest
