00:00Hello, and welcome to the Met Office forecast for the upcoming weekend.
00:04Generally, a cloudy weekend to come, grey skies for most of the time, rain for much
00:10of the time, albeit not all the time.
00:14But one thing you will notice is that it will be milder, particularly by night, because
00:18we keep low pressure to the south of the UK, we keep tight isobars, we keep areas of cloud
00:23and rain moving across the country, and with all of that going on, we're not going to see
00:26those clear, crisp nights.
00:28We're going to see a lot of grey skies to start off the weekend, and some very wet weather
00:32on Saturday, especially during the morning across parts of England and Wales.
00:36Southwest England are focused for the heaviest rainfall for Saturday morning, and that comes
00:40after a soggy Thursday and Friday, and so yeah, that's certainly somewhere that we're
00:44keeping a close eye on.
00:45Southern parts of Dartmoor, for example, could see some substantially wet weather.
00:50Some drier breaks there for southeastern parts of England, but even here, outbreaks of rain.
00:55And then the rainfall shifts northwards, the focus for the heaviest rain turns to
00:59north-east England, and then later on Saturday, south-east Scotland.
01:03Further south, some drier weather, albeit with a few showers, and the far north seeing
01:08some drier weather for a time during Saturday as well.
01:11Best of any brightness, north-west Scotland, parts of northern Ireland, but with a keen
01:15breeze.
01:16And then the cloud and rain shifts here as we end Saturday, Saturday night a wet one
01:19for Scotland, parts of northern Ireland, northern England.
01:23Dryer further south, and a gap between weather systems for Sunday.
01:27A wet start certainly for northern Scotland, that rainfall lingering for the far north
01:31of the mainland and for the northern isles through the day on Sunday.
01:35Further south, a lot of cloud cover, misty, murky start to Sunday, but most places dry
01:41apart from a few showers.
01:43So a brief window of drier weather for many places on Sunday before the next batch of
01:47unsettled weather moves into south Wales and the southwest of England.
01:50Yet more heavy rain along with a strengthening wind by Sunday afternoon here.
01:56Now temperatures technically by day during the weekend will be rising, but I suspect
02:01with the cloud cover, with the breeze, with those outbreaks, that rain is not going to
02:05feel very pleasant.
02:06You will notice though, we'll pretty much lose those frosty nights, those crisp mornings
02:12because of all the cloud cover and all of the rainfall coming through.
02:16So it's not going to rain all the time through the weekend, there will be periods of drier
02:19weather and the best way to keep across those periods of, well, less unsettled weather is
02:25to follow the Met Office on social media and of course to download the Met Office app where
02:29you can access the weather where you are.
02:31Bye bye.
