00:00The NHS is huge, so we're always recruiting. We have about 17,000 people in the special hospitals.
00:06There's always gaps, scarce resource, you know, people with skills are always, they're very,
00:11very valuable. More importantly, we are a really big part of the community, by far the biggest
00:16employer role from the community. Most of us were educated here in many of these schools,
00:22so we want to take our responsibilities seriously, give people as good a chance as they can
00:27to get into skilled employment in a good, in a great employer.
00:32Our Anyone's Hand programme delivers 40 careers insight events per annum, so we bring together
00:37cross-sector businesses and education providers. All of our events are free, so it's a completely
00:42equitable playing field. Students can access that regardless of any cost implications.
00:48Businesses love the events because they're enabled to talk to, you know,
00:53their potential workforce of the future, and young people are given the opportunity to speak
00:57to people in jobs, but also to go into businesses that they would never have seen before.
01:02Students come along to our sessions, and my colleague Heidi is demonstrating
01:08paediatric nurse by background, and she looks after a lot of paediatrics with tracheostomy tubes
01:14and to help them breathe. And myself, I was previously a sister within the
01:18EN nose and throat department, and so I'm talking a lot about BAHOS, which stands for Bone
01:23Angiogenerated, and which assists patients with hearing impairments, and it makes things a bit
01:30easier. I think it's really interesting seeing how, like, the bones look through the scans,
01:36so then in the future I can see, like, yeah, there's a problem there. I thought I'd deal with
01:40it myself. I'm excited for the bone part as well, because I think it's just fascinating,
01:46like, what's on the inside that we don't see every day.
01:50So today hopefully everyone will get a better awareness of what the sort of range of
01:55opportunities are. They'll talk to people who are actually doing some of these jobs.
